The Game Of Musical Beds Is Drawing To A Close…I Think.

We’re making some changes over here in the house of Shnook and Fuzz.

We’ve had a crazy few years of sleeping and not sleeping, Co-sleeping and cribbing, nursing and weaning, and sleeping in lots of different beds in the same house.  Seriously, there would be nights I’d start out in one bed and end up in another, only to wake up and not know where the heck I am. Sometimes I’d sleep in more than two places. It was bad, people.

The crib has been empty since June, I don’t see us going back in that direction.

So, in an effort to get my bed back, with my husband in it, the time has come to put the toddler and the preschooler in ONE room. At least, in the beginning of every night.

We finally fashioned another big boy bed in the Shnook’s room with a mattress, sheets and a protective pillow called the snugtuck. We put The Fuzzball to bed in there…

and there he stayed, for the whole night.

Let’s not get too excited here. It’s not like he didn’t wake up…thrice. We just didn’t bring him back to our bed. My husband went to him until 5:30 a.m. when he won’t go back to sleep unless I nurse him.

Meanwhile, the Shnook found his way into my bed around 4:00. That was okay by me, at least we were sleeping in a queen instead of his single bed. He did kick me in the face a few times, though.

File this under “things I never thought I’d say or do as a parent.”

Anyone else in the transitional phase at bedtime?
