The front porch.

Yesterday, the home of the very talented blogger, Monica Bielanko, caught fire.  Thankfully, the family of four, plus two pups, escaped with no harm but the house suffered severe damage.

The origins of the fire are unknown, but first impressions show that their daughter Violet’s room was where it originated and is a total loss along with other areas of the rental farmhouse that they so loved.

“Now the search begins for a new place to call home. I am not sure what will happen to our beloved house in the country for now. We are absolutely devastated and still in shock. Today we assess the damage. I am scared to look at the blackened remains of my entire life. Everything I ever considered important and carefully saved in boxes is gone.”  ~Monica, The Girl Who

As Serge and Monica are both self-employed (Monica is a Toddler Times blogger for Babble!), they face hardship ahead in rebuilding possessions and finding a new place to call home.  The blogging community has banded together in support of the Bielankos as Katie Allison Granju, a personal friend of the couple, seeks to help raise money so the family may begin piecing their life together again.

For Monica’s words on the tragedy, please see her personal site.

Bielanko family, we wish you the very best in this hard time.
