13 Things That Don’t Make You a Bad Parent

We all want the same thing: to raise kind, responsible adults who won’t blame us for everything in therapy (or maybe that’s just me?).

Parenting is all about practicality; it has to be.

I propose we abandon the guilt, give ourselves a big ol’ hug and realize this is the stuff we all do. To pretend otherwise is just lying to ourselves.

It’s time to come clean. Guilt be gone!

Daycare
For many working parents, daycare is a necessity. Whether or not daycare was your first choice, try to relax. While you're busy feeling guilty, your child is busy making friends and learning.

Great article! I love the picture of the little girl with the lollipop. That’s how my kids feel about candy too :)

THANK YOU for the TV comment. Some of us single working parents have to let our kids watch a little tv while we try to do the thousands of other things that need to be done each night!

I agree highly with all of them except the white lie part. Just because lying and even white lies are my pet peeves. I have been hurt in my life way worse by lies than the honest truth so in this house, we don’t tell any lies, even white ones. We do learn to spin things as nicely as possible but we don’t straight out lie.

The “want” comment is great! I use it a lot! “You want a donut? Well, I wanted you to get dressed the first 7 times I told you to.” “You want to watch Wall-E? I wanted you to eat at least five bites of your dinner.” Karma’s a bitch. Want is good.

I love this!! You definitely help me to not feel so guilty, seeing as I’m not the only mom that does this stuff! lol
