11 Art Activities to Try with Your Toddler
I’m a big fan of process-oriented art for toddlers. This kind of open-ended art really helps young children to develop confidence, creativity, and fine motor skills. As they explore the art materials and what they can do with them, they learn about the world around them as well as their own capabilities. And have fun, too, of course! Because above all else, art is fun.

Tia commented on Jul 06 11 at 3:57 pmWe’ve done painting with water outside on rocks (and even the car). My little girl loves doing sticker art! She enjoys peeling and putting stickers on paper. All of these sound like great ideas and I hope to try more of them out!

These ideas are so simple and manageable, I could totally picture myself trying them with my 19 month old. In a few weeks I will become a SAHM and I’ve been really nervous about finding ways to fill our time that is as engaging and enriching as daycare has been. Art is something I think we would love to do together eventhough I’ve left that up to the daycare to this point (she comes home with hoards of “projects” daily). Something about wrangling my active toddler with gloppy fingerpaints all over her hands and going in her mouth just seemed too daunting, but shaving cream on the window – totally doable!
