Back To School For Your Home: The Landing Zone
Picture this: You have just come home from school. You are ten. And you are starving! You have a coat and some shoes and a backpack that hasn’t been zipped up all the way and it is bursting with paperwork and colored pencils that somehow fell out of their box and you are peeling it all off in a mad dash for the cookie jar and your mother shouts at you, “Wait! Put those things where they belong first!”
Every house has a landing zone, whether it is on purpose or not. Sometimes your landing zone is the five square feet surrounding the door, with coats and shoes and flyers lounging about like a bunch of hippies. Other times your landing zones are the embodiment of June Cleaver in pearls and high heels, perfectly organized and arranged just so, and your children respect the landing zone, and backpacks are hung on hooks and shoes are stored correctly and important papers never get lost.
Generally we fall somewhere in between, is what I have noticed anyway.

I really hope that this becomes the solution we have been looking for as I am tired of having coats, bags and keys everywhere!
Rhonda commented on Sep 09 11 at 12:15 ami finally just got my husband to hang up a key hook thingy like a year ago…we are lucky in that we have TWO closets by the front door, although only one has a bar for coats..the other has one lone shelf that is too high for me to reach….i’ve been bugging the husband to put shelves in the other closet…oh the things I could store! A shelf for each member of the house.
