40 Inspirational Ideas for Boys Rooms

It’s a good thing my girls are so sweet and cute – I always imagined myself as a mother to lots of little boys. :) But here I am with three girls, and lots and LOTS of inspiration images for boys rooms!

Maybe someday I’ll have some personal application for these, but in the meantime, I hope you can use them:

I love the striped paint treatment in the lighter colors. Such a great kids room look.

Sa-weet round-up of rooms Jenny! Your photo collections are some of the best. I am in the process of decorating my 3 boys’ rooms as well, so this is some great inspiration! Thanks much.

Great collection of rooms. Thanks for sharing. I love non-traditional rooms with such great character and design.

Jenny – your taste is pitch perfect. I know this is perhaps asking too much of your memory, but I am obsessed with everything in the PLAID!! room (image 29 in the above slideshow). Do you have any recollection what print outlet from which that image was pulled? I am trying my darndest to find a plaid throw that is similar to the one on the end of that bed, with no luck. For the record, a google search for “blue plaid throw” brings up images ugly enough to make one re-think plaid all together. :) Thanks!

Hi, I am trying to find the yellow bedding and the picture (why are there so many songs about rainbows) do you know where I can find them—especially the bedding.

There are only a couple of these that I like even mildly. They all look so unwelcoming. Where are the toys? What would these kids do? Why are so many of the beds puny little cot like things or couches? They look more like hotel rooms and some of them seem to have objects in them which should or would be off limits or even dangerous. I think children’s rooms should be designed to be comfortable, welcoming and entertaining to children, not a parent’s idea of the latest designer trend or fashion. Parents have to make room in their lives for kid stuff.

I’m sorry, but these rooms are awful. Only one of them looks lived in, all the rest of them look cold and lonely, like a hospital or hotel. Are these rooms you would have liked to sleep in, alone, in the dark, when you were a small child? Most of the beds are couches! Some of them are even by windows! Most adults don’t even like sleeping by windows, so why put your child by one? And almost none of the pictures with babies had cribs. The rooms look artsy, modern, and trendy, but none of them look like a child’s room. Kids need toys and fun, not just ‘fashionable’ patterns and decorative artwork. Why deprive a child of a children’s room? Its almost like your in denial about having kids. You should at least ask your child’s opinion, after all its going to be THEIR room, not yours. Think about what your child would want, not only what you what them to want. Give your KID A CHOICE in what THEY will be PLAYING and SLEEPING in!!!! ITS THEIR ROOM!!!!!!!

Hey, I am trying so hard to find this crib – do you know if it is still available, or where to get it, or what it is called? I know you said Walmart, I checked and could not find it there either. thanks!!

@Jennifer and Julia, I completely agree! How would the child even get those books on that one bookshelf? Totally for the moms not the kids!

I’m also looking for this crib – it’s perfect! I couldn’t find it at Walmart. Does anyone know where I can find this? Thanks!

What is the original source for the room with the bunk beds and the trees?! Awesome! I’d love to know if they built it themselves or what? Thanks!
