A doll with Dad's face. Weird.

Included in the doll is a digital recorder than can hold up to four different messages for a total of eight minutes of songs, stories and “I love you”s.

Are suffering stuffed animals the next big thing?
Now here’s something for the kids: stuffed animals with mental illnesses.
Stick with me. They’re cuddly and vulnerable and, like Dub the turtle, really, really sad. The might make a nice toy for a child whose parent suffers from depression, bipolar disorders (Dub the sheep/wolf) or terrifying hallucinations (that’s Sly the snake). Perhaps snuggly up to an obsessive-compulsive Hippo will help a child relate better to his world, feel normal, feel loved.

My child has a large collection of stuffed animals that she’s collected over the years. The vast majority of these stuffies are piled up on a chair in her room that was placed there for the sole purpose of holding stuffies. But on her bed are the chosen ones. These are the special, can’t-sleep-without-them stuffies that she’s been dragging around since her toddler days.
But there is one favored stuffed bunny that has been separated from the pack. He’s pink and white and lives in my room, on my bed. She gave me Pinky several years ago after I solemnly swore to cuddle him each and every night for the rest of my life. At first, I did it just to humor her. But now? Well, now I automatically reach for Pinky when I turn out the lights each night. Sometimes Pinky ends up on the floor, but most mornings I awake to find Pinky safely snuggled in my arms. For their birthdays this year, my kids got stuffed animals. No simple teddy bear, these handmade monstrosities looked like something straight out of Frankenstein’s lab.
Of course, the girls love them. A kitten with a dragon’s tail and flower petals for wings faces down a sock monkey with horns in their bedroom every night.
Freaky stuffed animals aren’t just for kids, of course. Jezebel recently shone a spotlight on some down-right R-rated ones. Friends of mine have collections of plush illnesses like herpes.
Weird plush things are adorable, unusual, and a hit at birthday parties no matter how many candles are on the cake. They’re also a fun D.I.Y. project.
You don’t have to be a crafty genius to make a memorable stuffed toy.
