Stupak Supporters Get Coat Hangers
The 20 supposedly “
pro-choice” Democrats who jumped the aisle to support the Stupak Amendment in the House health reform bill will receive coathangers as an early Christmas gift from angry abortion-rights activists. No doubt the gifts will be received with all the love that went into sending them.
Credo Action (an activist network tied to the Credo Mobile cell phone company) is running an Internet campaign to deliver signed petitions along with piles of coathangers to the “pro-choice” congress-critters (all men) who voted for the amendment, which activists say restricts abortion access. Abortion Laws Protect Pregnant Teen Who Paid for Beating
A teenager who couldn’t get an abortion at seven months because her state bans late-term abortions has been accused of hiring someone to beat her up - in hopes it would terminate the pregnancy.
But now a judge says the abortion laws of the state protect her from prosecution for her part in the beatings. Continue reading »

Mom Wins Suit For Being Called Nazi Over Abortion
The single mother who won a suit against the Polish government’s ban on abortion has gained her second success: a Catholic newspaper will have to pay her for equating her attempts to have her pregnancy terminated with murder and the Nazi regime.
Alicja Tysiac was already a mother of two in 2000 when she became pregnant again. Eye doctors advised against carrying the pregnancy to term because she was likely to lose her vision, but doctors refused the terminate the pregnancy. Continue reading »

Operation Rescue Is Broke
Yes, you heard right. Extremist anti-abortion group Operation Rescue has no money, and according to a letter sent out by group president Troy Newman yesterday, darn it all, they were JUST on the verge of something big.
Other than the unmitigated gall of using the murder of abortion provider George Tiller in church (nice honoring of Jesus, and the free expression of religion, that) as one of their excuses for the financial pickle they are in, the letter is almost funny. Supposedly, they have big things on the horizon, great big things, things they cannot share with the very people they are begging for money.
Newman writes: Continue reading »

Anti-Abortion Activist Killing Not Abortion-Motivated?
A well-known Michigan abortion protestor was gunned down this week doing what he loved - protesting outside a high school.
No matter his beliefs, it’s tragedy, pure and simple, that a man died. But the arrest of Harlan James Drake for the killing has put a curious spin on the move to make Jim Pouillon a martyr for the pro-life crowd with this news:
He might not have been killed over the abortion cause at all. Continue reading »

Morning News - Lindsey Graham Is Not A Wise Latina
Sonia Sotomayor’s confirmation hearings continue today. She “mostly listened” yesterday as the Senators talked. And talked. And talked. My personal favorite comments came from South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham. He told the judge, “Unless you have a complete meltdown, you are going to be confirmed.” That’s nice of him. Speaking about her now infamous quote about being a “wise Latina” (he misspoke and said “Latino”), Graham said, “If I ever said something remotely like that, my career would have been over.” Yeah, I think if a white guy made a speech talking about his experiences as a “wise Latina woman”, that would effectively end his career in politics. Maybe he could get a job at Duane Reade, though. Here’s Graham in all of his Grahamy glory. Continue reading »

School Makes Kid Change Pro-Life Tee
I may not agree with its message, but a California school’s in trouble for forcing a teen to take off the pro-life tee she was wearing in honor of “pro-life t-shirt day.”
Her mom says they violated her First Amendment rights, and she’s taking them the court.
I hope she wins. Yes, I said it. Continue reading »

Start Painting the Nursery: At Home Gender Tests
Who needs sonograms and that big needle stuck in your belly? A new at-home pregnancy test won’t tell you whether you’ve got a bun in there but who that bun is.
According the package, the new IntelliGender Gender Prediction Test will tell you at ten weeks if you’ll be bringing home a Susie or a Steve. So why are pro-lifers all up in arms about this one? Continue reading »
