Do you text with your kids?
It is really no secret that Sarah Palin is all over the news, as well as your television no matter how many people want her to drop off the face of the earth, or simply out of the media eye.
Recently the heat has been turned up incredibly with the release of her latest book, and her reality television show featured on TLC. As anyone with common sense knows, reality television shows do not always accurately depict a person, or what takes place in their everyday lives. But as such a high profile person, I am sure Palin had heavy involvement in the editing of her show.
That all being said, the Huffington post took some shots at her parenting skills this week. Essentially blaming the mama grizzly for the shortcomings of her children, especially daughter and nationally known teen mother Bristol.
Joan E. Dowling of the Huffington Post takes a couple digs at Palin’s parenting skills, or lack there of in her recent article called Assessing Palin’s Parenting Skills. The biggest issue that I could see after reading the article, as well as watching her reality television show was the methods of parenting and discipline, and the way her children react to her requests, and rules. When adults think about the term “tea party” these days, the vast majority of the population think about the new invented political party being lead by former Republican front runners like Sarah Palin. And those are the positive thoughts.
But a new generation of children have a different opinion of the Tea Party, and they made it clear this past weekend at the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear in Washington D.C. hosted by comedy news anchors Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, and is estimated to have over 215,000 attendees. Elena Kagan looks like a great candidate for the Supreme Court: she’s the first female dean of Harvard’s prestigious law school. A Harvard man himself, it’s easy to see why Obama would choose her.
But her appointment disappoints some of his constituents: mothers who hoped to see another mom appointed to the position being vacated by retiring Justice John Paul Stevens.
Lesbian teen Constance McMillen won her day in court last month, but was still robbed of her chance to dance with her girlfriend at her high school prom.
The girls were misdirected by parents, other teens and school administrators to a fake prom at a local country club while her classmates partied at a secret prom organized by parents.
Good news today for future college students: Obama signed into law an overhaul of the student loan program that will make loans easier to get and more affordable to repay.
The changes are expected to make higher education more widely available to underprivileged youth, but will also cost jobs in the private student lending sector.
Anyone who says the health care system isn’t broke never said that to the face of a young child who lost his mother. Marcelas Owens, whose mother died of pulmonary hypertension, is taking his message straight to congress.
“The health care system is broken, and it caused my mother’s death,” Marcelas said in an interview on MSNBC.

Headline from the Washington Post — Colin Powell now says gays should be able to serve openly in military. This follows statements by chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael G. Mullen and U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates that the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy should be put back in the closet, so to speak. Gates actually talked about this as far back as July of 2009 (which is a lifetime in terms of our non-stop news cycle). According to CNN, Gates told the Pentagon back then that he was “looking at ways to make the policy ‘more humane,’ including letting people serve who may have been outed due to vengeance or a jilted lover.” Continue reading »
