Dad Saves Baby’s Life Using CPR He Learned By Watching TV
It’s not quite open heart surgery after watching an episode of Grey’s Anatomy in which Dr. McDreamy hits the operating room, but hey! It’s a pretty big deal to save your kid’s life in an of itself.
Add to that the fact that one New Jersey dad was able to do it by using skills he learned by watching TV and you’ve got yourself a story. Continue reading »
The Weirdest Family Photos Ever

In German artist Paul Ripke’s photo series, kids are the parents and parents are the kids. The resulting effect—beards in onesies and pacifiers in business suits— is completely bizarre, slightly disturbing, and quite amusing.
Aside from being amazingly cool to look at, these images ask some bigger questions. In this child-centered age, parents are often judged for letting their lives revolve around their children.Where previous generations of children were given a finite place in a world defined by adults, this generation of kids is being raised in a world increasingly designed around kids’ needs, both physical and emotional. Whether or not this style of parenting benefits kids…or parents, is up for debate.
Ripke’s work seems to address this question, asking:
Just who is the parent here?
Parents Outraged About Body-Shaping Skecher Shoes For Little Girls [VIDEO]
First there was the California mom injecting her 8-year-old daughter with Botox so she can win beauty pageants, now I find out about leg and butt-toning shoes aimed at girls as young as 8-years-old.
America! What are we doing to our little girls?
The brand Skechers has introduced a new model of their popular “Shape-ups” shoes – previously targeting adult women – in sizes small enough to fit little girls. Some even come with Velcro straps.
The shoes are featured in a sassy commercial (seen below) starring young girls as pop stars. The girls are followed around by three boys dressed in costumes representing ice cream, a hot dog and a cupcake. In one part of the commercial, a girl wearing Shape-ups confidently walks away from the boys/food. Continue reading »
Lovely or Lewd? Parents Upset Over Statue In Neighbor’s Yard
It’s a simple statue of a woman holding a plate. A golden cloth is draped around her waist, leaving the rest of her body bare.
The half-nude statue is in the yard of an Ogden, Utah neighborhood filled with children, many whose parents think the statue is inappropriate. That’s why they complained to the city, asking that the statue be removed.
North Ogden City Manager Ed Dickie says the residents approached the North Ogden City Council to say the statue doesn’t belong in a neighborhood with many elementary school-age children passing by the statue every day. Continue reading »
Crayola Colored Bubbles Create Permanent Memories and Angry Parents
Crayola is causing huge headaches for a lot of parents but it’s not the usual culprit. No crayon on the walls, this time the culprit is bubbles.
The Colored Bubbles hit shelves in February for ten bucks for a pack of three. They sold better than expected with some toy stores reporting it’s hard to keep them in stock.
But the fun may be over as more and more parents are taking to the internet to vent about the bubbles. When they pop, parents say the bubbles leave a colorful mess despite the fact that Crayola touts them as “washable”.
One Denver mother says the the Sunset Orange bubble soap on her garage floor looks like blood and the blue bubble soap made her boys look like smurfs. Continue reading »
Parents Forced to Pay a Tax Following Their Newborn’s Death

The parents who lost their daughter after an hour are incensed that they were billed $50 by the county for her death
There are few things worse than the death of a child. In fact, to most parents, there can’t be anything more tragic and horrific.
Little Olivia Clark’s lungs were never fully developed and she had a slim chance of survival after birth due to polycystic kidneys. She only lived for one hour after she was born on Oct. 5, 2010, at University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
Following her death, her parents received a bill that included a $50 charge that simply said, “King County death tax.” Her family was outraged.
