Today Of Thee I Sing will hit book shelves all over. Written by our current president before he took office in January of 2009, and illustrated by high profile artist Loren Long famous for her work with the likes of Madonna and Frank McCourt, it sends an excellent message from a father’s point of view. The Health and Human Services Department will make $25 million available to states through competitive grants to encourage programs that serve pregnant women and teens.
The Pregnancy Assistance Fund will help women find health care and housing and provide support so that women can finish high school and college programs.

Elena Kagan looks like a great candidate for the Supreme Court: she’s the first female dean of Harvard’s prestigious law school. A Harvard man himself, it’s easy to see why Obama would choose her.
But her appointment disappoints some of his constituents: mothers who hoped to see another mom appointed to the position being vacated by retiring Justice John Paul Stevens.
Michelle Obama and Jill Biden took a helicopter tour of Port-au-Prince today on an unannounced trip to Haiti to reaffirm U.S. commitment to the earthquake-torn country.
Later, the pair will visit the National Palace — where government employees were trapped inside after the earthquake — and visit with President René Préval.

Good news today for future college students: Obama signed into law an overhaul of the student loan program that will make loans easier to get and more affordable to repay.
The changes are expected to make higher education more widely available to underprivileged youth, but will also cost jobs in the private student lending sector.
Anyone who says the health care system isn’t broke never said that to the face of a young child who lost his mother. Marcelas Owens, whose mother died of pulmonary hypertension, is taking his message straight to congress.
“The health care system is broken, and it caused my mother’s death,” Marcelas said in an interview on MSNBC.
