Obama: Energy Future Depends on Kids’ Skills

A seemingly ever-increasing population, hooked on iPods, cellphones, and GPS systems, with big-screen televisions in every room, along with the requisite complement of DVD players, DVR’s, and video game systems, uses a lot of power — and that demand is only going to grow.  The three R’s — reduce, reuse, and recycle — can only go so far in assuaging the need for energy.  Clearly, we are going to continue to need to develop new ways of generating power.  What those ways will be are anyone’s guess, but where the ideas will come from is clear — from the scientists of the future.  That’s why Michelle Obama wants states to improve science and mathematics education.

When a Facebook using a third-party application created a poll asking the question “Should Obama be killed?”, Secret Service agents took the implied threat very seriously.

They shut down the application — which included choices like “yes,” “maybe,” and “if he cuts my health care” — removed the poll, and went searching for it’s user.  Their “man” hunt turned up a surprise, though:  The poll creator was a child.

Obama Wants Shorter Summer Breaks for Students

Did your kids spend their summer on the beach, at the pool, or just hunting for bugs in their backyard?  That free time might be endangered.  President Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan are advocating for longer school days and a move toward a “balanced” or year round calendar for school kids.

Obama won the mock election in my kids’ school by a landslide.  I wonder if those votes would have been different if the kids knew he had it in for summer break.

School Children Praise Obama in Song - Indoctrination or Innocent Ditty?

Let the accusations of indoctrinations, brainwashing and teaching socialism to our school kids be slung around yet again.

A YouTube video from earlier in the year, which was shot at a New Jersey Elementary School, is getting lots and lots of new attention. The clip shows about twenty children singing songs praising President Obama. One celebrates his “great plan” to “make this country’s economy No. 1 again”. And just to really get nervous parents panties in a bunch, the song takes quotes from the spiritual Jesus Loves the Little Children and replaces Jesus with Obama. Yeah, that’s probably taking it a bit too far.

Some five hundred kids from Arlington will be bused out to watch former President George W. Bush give a speech later this month at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium. These are the same kids who weren’t allowed to watch President Barack Obama’s speech to American school children yesterday.
