When is it time to put those babyfeeders away?
Listen, I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been made fun of by more than one long-time associate over my penchant for walking around my house naked. My mother always walked around naked when I was a kid (tho thankfully my father never did), and I know I’m not alone. I can think of a few comedians with stories about seeing more of their parents than they wanted to whilst growing up. Seeing your parents naked can be jarring, it can be scarring, but is it inappropriate? Experts have mixed feelings about letting it all hang out in front of the kids. Continue reading »
Naked babies make us happy
Here at Chez Carroll, we encourage naked babies. In fact, it’s become a nightly custom for our toddler to say, “I be a naked baby now, Mommy,” as she strips off every last ounce of clothes and runs around in the buff until bed time.
She turns 3 later this summer. We think it’s adorable.
But when do naked kids stop making you saw, “Awwww,” and start making you say, “Ewwww?”
Technology writer Robert X. Cringely has a wacky family tradition: every year, his family poses nude for their annual Christmas card.
This year, a clerk at their local Kinko’s refused to print the cards. Her reason: she thinks they’re obscene.
Hilary Swank has gotten a lot of flack since she told Marie Claire how much she loves her birthday suit. Especially wearing it in front of her boyfriend’s six-year-old son.

It’s about time we checked back in with www.WhytheF***doyouhaveakid.com, because as long as their are still people having kids there will be people who should not be having kids.
A New York Times piece on kids running around naked provoked discussion this week about whether and when it’s appropriate. The consensus seemed to be that anything goes in the privacy of the child’s home. Many said hosts should defer to guests’ comfort (if Grandma’s uncomfortable, then cover up those toddlers!). Some mourned the loss of the once uncontroversial state of undress.
But I wonder where the pro-nekkid people draw the line. What would they think, for example, of my daughter’s preschool, where the unofficial mantra could be summarized: if naked feels good, do it. Continue reading »
