Before my husband and I decided to start trying to have a baby, I figured I should try to wean myself off of Prozac. I had been taking the anti-depressant for several years after a couple of bouts of debilitating depression.
After getting the okay from my doctor, I slowly stopped taking my medication. At first, I felt great. But after a few weeks, I was so anxious and depressed that my husband was growing concerned. He gently suggested that I re-think my decision. I saw my doctor and we decided that Prozac was a good choice for me during pregnancy. Luckily, my doctor was supportive of my decision.

Ever think about what happens to those tiny little blood samples nurses take after your baby is born? I sure didn’t. I was just happy to get it done and over with, because no new mama likes to see her brand new baby in pain — even if it’s just a little poke.
But that mandatory little poke is actually a really big deal. It screens for 29 genetic diseases, and it provides early diagnosis for 5,000 babies a year who need treatment.
When those samples are done being tested, they are sometimes stripped of any identifying information and stored. In certain cases, they’re used for research into issues like newborn screening and childhood cancers. But that discovery has some parents complaining that use of their baby’s blood is unethical.
Upon holding up her newborn child for cameras, 11-year-old Kordeza Zhelyazkova said, “I’m not going to play with toys any more – I have a new toy now.”
Yikes.
Kordeza went into labor during the wedding ceremony to her teenage boyfriend Jeliazko Dimitrov. She still was still wearing the white dress and tiara when she gave birth to her daughter, Violeta.
A survey of 2,000 women in the United Kingdom found that women who aren’t mothers want maternity leave, too.

Got a colicky baby? Well then, I’m sorry. Because an endlessly crying baby is something that’s just too hard to bear when you’re an exhausted new parent.
Some experts estimate that between 10 and 15 babies experience colic, which means that 10 to 15 percent of parents are out there right now, desperately needing a break.
Help may come in the form of an old-fashioned treatment: chamomile tea.
We take pictures to preserve precious memories, cut locks of those sweet baby curls for the baby book. Some parents even save their children’s teeth. But is this trend of saving every artifact of a kid’s childhood going too far?
