Lady Gaga My Little Pony
There are many a childhood icon that are routinely co-opted by us adults. We take their cute and cuddly characters and boldly put our own brand on them. We pay tribute to this kiddie kitsch with ironic T-shirts, high tech mash-ups, and by taking their dolls and totally transforming them. The most stunning recent example of that? The My Little Pony customizing phenomenon. And there is one woman – Finnish artist Mari Kasurinen – who is spearheading this movement, taking those cute little bright hues, long-haired plastic dollies and doing a array of very detailed decorations to turn them into Elvis, Princess Leia and Lady Gaga.

My Little Pony!
I don’t know about your daughter, but mine? She loves and I mean loves My Little Pony. I should confess that she hasn’t seen the animated series inspired by the Hasbro toy, but when she sees those bright colored plastic dolls, her heart goes pitter patter. And it’s evidently not just her and her peers, My Little Pony is another example of one of those kiddie classics that has become a phenomenon with the adult set.
