Woman in Labor Takes Driving Test
Let’s just say that you are a very pregnant woman. And you happen to be at the end of your pregnancy, like really at the end. Your water breaks. Your are in labor. Do you:
a) Rush to the hospital
b) Go home to rest and relax a little bit before you have your little one – going to the hospital when you are father along.
c) Go take your already scheduled drivers test.
If you are Emma French of Scotland then you would totally pick choice c. And she did.

Would you tweet your baby's birth?
When Twitter was first launched back in 2006, I didn’t exactly rush to create an account. I honestly didn’t understand what the point was and felt certain that nothing that happened in my personal life was tweet-worthy.
Eventually, curiosity got the best of me and I signed on. It was then that I realized that having something important to say is not a requirement when it comes to tweeting.
But if Twitter started out as a place for bored people to share the mundane details of their lives, it has evolved into something much more. The ability to communicate in real time with total strangers has brought out the exhibitionist in some.
It would seem that a desire to fill that little “what’s happening” box at the top of the Twitter page with something interesting has resulted in a whole lot of over sharing.

Childbirth is dramatic enough without getting left behind by an overzealous husband, ala I Love Lucy, or having your partner’s stoner friend walking in just in time to see the baby crowning like in Knocked Up.
But according to Hollywood, when your nine months are up and baby is ready to be born, any number of things could happen.
Your water could break on your best friend’s ex-fiance’s feet. You’ll probably start screaming at anyone who gets near you, especially your partner who has suddenly gone from trust-worthy and reliable to bumbling and self-absorbed. And when it’s all over, all of your sweat and tears will magically turn to clean hair and lipstick as you cuddle your perfectly formed newborn baby.
Who needs a doctor, a hospital, or all that fancy — not to mention expensive — medical gear when you’re having a baby? Certainly not Alana Sanders. She’s got her own delivery team right there at home: her 11-year-old daughter Faith and 9-year-old son Jabari. With a 9-1-1 dispatcher on the phone, the pair calmly delivered their new baby brother.
Ask any woman, and she’ll tell you labor is like a marathon – and you have to reserve some energy for that last sprint to the finish line. New recommendations to allow laboring women access to food could actually help you make it happen.
Doctors have been refusing pregnant women food during labor for eons. The conventional wisdom – at least explained to me during my pregnancy – was that it could slow labor if you ate. And besides, if they had to perform an emergency C-section, it was better if there was nothing in your stomach (that whole – don’t eat before surgery issue). Continue reading »
When Wisconsin mom Johan Ortiz went into labor, she didn’t panic. She didn’t rush to the hospital. Instead, against her doctor’s orders, she got in her SUV and went to pick up her husband. He was in a plane, flying toward an airport three hours away from her Milwaukee home.

When my water broke at 4 a.m. a week before my due date, I called my OB right away.
“Are you sure it broke?” she asked.
“Uhhhh, yeah. Pretty sure.”
“I just saw you yesterday, and I told you that you wouldn’t be ready to go for at least another week.”
I contemplated and rejected at least three different responses before taking a very deep breath and saying, “Should I come to the hospital now or wait until my contractions start?”
“FINE. Come in,” she grumbled. My second daughter was born 12 hours later.
