Like many families, these days, we have a computer or two floating around the house. We use them for work, for fun, for watching videos, and, yes, for managing our rather extensive music collection. And because I am rarely without my laptop, there are a number of power supplies for it scattered about the house — living room, bedroom, my office. It has crossed my mind, among my worst-case-scenario imaginings, that they might be a hazard, but I never really thought a kid would actually put the end of a cord in his mouth. Well, color me wrong.
Last year, my then three-year-old wanted one thing for Christmas: Groovy Girls. Groovy Girl dolls, Groovy Girl beds, Groovy Girl cars. One look at the prices left me a little dizzy, until I got the idea to look them up on Craigslist. Low and behold, there was an 11-year-old girl selling her entire collection. For $20.
The video’s of a kid with a guitar singing “Back in Black,” how can you not want him to win his first visit to an AC/DC concert?
According to the Toronto Star, the majority of folks voting on the AC/DC Ultimate Fan Experience were behind 8-year-old “biggest fan” Josh until sponsors Bell/MSN Sympatico somehow lost all the votes. Don’t laugh. I used to love my Walkman. I carried it everywhere. It was, after all, music . . . PORTABLE. Oh yeah, and the walkman just turned thirty.
Dude, we are old. And to hammer that one home, BBC Magazine handed a Walkman to a thirteen-year-old “tester,” seizing his iPod temporarily and making him live the cassette life.
