There are few things cuter than baby fat. The rolls on the chin. The dimpled knees. The cherubic round cheeks. We could just eat them up.
But a mounting body of research suggests that those adorable fat babies are at higher risk for obesity as older children and adults.
More broadly, the emerging data points to parents as a big factor in children’s weight issues. Schools are doing a lot to try to curb childhood obesity, but parents aren’t doing enough during the preschool years to set kids on the right track.

It’s an impossible situation: Your one-year-old baby is sick with a severe and progressive disease that leaves him without any quality of life, so sick that even his doctors recommend removing him from life support, sick enough that you can actually begin to imagine that letting him go is the right thing to do.

Upon holding up her newborn child for cameras, 11-year-old Kordeza Zhelyazkova said, “I’m not going to play with toys any more – I have a new toy now.”
Yikes.
Kordeza went into labor during the wedding ceremony to her teenage boyfriend Jeliazko Dimitrov. She still was still wearing the white dress and tiara when she gave birth to her daughter, Violeta.
A survey of 2,000 women in the United Kingdom found that women who aren’t mothers want maternity leave, too.

Get ready to put your babies on a diet. That is, if you want them to have health coverage.
After the birth of Alex, the Lange family sought a new insurance provider in Rocky Mountain Health Plans. The insurer then turned around and told the family their baby was “too fat” for coverage.
Alex’s parents, Bernie and Kelli, were understandably shocked.
