10 Fun Things to Do with That Unwanted Fruitcake
While popular in other countries like Britain, fruitcake is a much-maligned Christmas tradition here in the United States. Late-night TV host Johnny Carson once joked that there is really only one fruitcake in the world, passed from family to family.
If you are one of those who can’t stand the stuff, you are not alone. Since we know you are not going to eat it, we thought you might like to know what else you and your family might do with it, so we scoured the web for the best ideas: Continue reading »
Hilarious! Elf on the Shelf in Compromising Positions
Getting tired of coming up with new places to put your Elf on the Shelf?
Clever Jill Williams Krause of the blog Babyrabies decided to take a funny look at what kind of Elf on the Shelf positions might traumatize the children. I found myself laughing out loud at these photos she created and I know you will too. (Be sure to visit her blog to see the other photos she posted!) Check these out:

The Oblivious Suburban Mom Meme: An Ode To The Clueless Among Us
We all know one — one of those moms who is totally and utterly clueless. They walk around sporting a pair of rose-colored glasses and a misguided belief that their children can do no wrong. They believe that the pot smell in the air is actually incense, that the Playboy found under his bed was put there by a friend, and that the big red mark on their neck isn’t a hickey, it’s a spider bite. These women walk the world oblivious.
And now there is a series of memes paying homage to the Oblivious Suburban Mom. Pasted upon a photo agency image of a “mom,” users at QuickMeme have been submitting their own captions to create a hilarious gallery of cluelessness.
Check out a couple more of the memes right here: Continue reading »
BuzzFeed Turns Up Some Seriously Disgruntled Dr. Pepper-Loving Pugs
You’ve all heard about the new Dr. Pepper 10 campaign that claims the 10-calorie drink “isn’t for girls,” right? You can get the whole scoop here, or I can sum it up for you in four words: Stupid. Misogynistic. Ad. Campaign.
Anyhoo, BuzzFeed brilliantly put some of the actual comments taken from the Dr. Pepper facebook fanpage and put them over some expressively miffed pugs. The results are hilarious. But all of Buzzfeed’s photos are unusable by other sites (copyrights!), so I’ve created a few of my own and if you like, then click over for ten more Extremely Upset Pugs. Trust me when I say that the last one is the best. Continue reading »
Grandparents Fumbling With Computer Become Internet Sensations Thanks To Grandkid
Cutest grandparents ever. Seemingly best marriage ever. Seriously. It’s hard to figure you haven’t seen the couple from Oregon who everyone with an internet connection is talking about.
Just in case you were without power the last few hours, here’s the gist. 86-year-old Bruce Huffman and his wife, Esther, 79, recently bought their very first laptop computer with a built-in webcam.
Last month they sat down to try and make heads or tails out of the thing. They were attempting to make a video with the webcam, something their granddaughter had tried to show them a few days before. But if you’ve ever tried to teach a parent how to Skype or, hell, even just connect to the internet, you know how that little lesson probably ended. So Esther’s trying to figure out how to work the newfangled contraption while Bruce is amusing himself by looking at himself in the image on the computer.
As David Lohr at the Huffington Post writes, “The nearly three minute video captures Bruce making funny faces, singing, burping and at one point, during a moment of levity, he got a little flirtatious with his wife. “See how pretty your hair is?” he said. “Just drop your dress a little bit and see your boobies.”
“I was trying to figure out how to do the videos and didn’t know the thing was actually running,” Esther told The Huffington Post. “All the while, Bruce was kind of amusing himself because he was bored. He was being quite an actor.”
When the couple’s granddaughter later saw the video, she titled it “Web Cam 101 for Seniors” and uploaded it on YouTube. The rest is history. Continue reading »
How You Saw Your Dad/How Your Son Will See You [Video]
It’s the circle of life.
You start off thinking your dad hung the moon. He can do anything and he knows everything.
Eventually the father-son relationship evolves into something more complicated. He’s the ogre that makes the slave son (you) do chores and then he’s the idiot who imitates the waiter at the fancy restaurant, much to your embarrassment.
As the Huffington Post reports, “With time, our dads evolve into actual human beings instead of the capital D “Dad” images we have of them in our heads, and College Humor has put together a pretty amazing ode to that process.
Thanks to the Huffington Post for pointing me to College Humor: Continue reading »
Tuesday Twitter Tracker: 10 Hilarious Tweets From Parents
I have laughed out loud several times in the past couple hours while putting together this edition of the ten funniest tweets from parents on Twitter. Thar be some funny folks out there, y’all. Especially @yoyoha, who hits more home runs on Twitter than Barry Bonds or whomever was slamming it out of the park in their heyday. And he doesn’t even use steroids. At least, I don’t htink he does. But I can’t be sure. Seriously. Follow him. Yoyoha, I mean. Not Barry Bonds. But you can follow Barry Bonds too, if you want although I have no idea if dude is on Twitter.
*Note: If Barry Bonds is not the right dude for this comparison cut me some slack, wouldja? It took several minutes of googling baseball, home runs and steroids to come up with that name.
In case you missed it, you can check out last week’s Twitter Tracker. Some of the same people are featured again because, well, because they’re funny as hell, man.
If you know anyone who’s knocking ‘em dead on Twitter, send me a link. Especially if you know of any mamas like (@kellyoxford) who are killing it on a regular basis.
Go follow these people on Twitter because you will laugh, I promise. It’s funny because it’s true!
Okay, enough with the preamble. Here are some of the funniest tweets about parenting you’ll ever read.
