There's no shame in waiting tables, but is waiting tables in hot pants a career you want to push on your kids?
There is absolutely no shame in waiting tables for a living. Absolutely none. Working hard — and being on your feet all day — is tremendously admirable. And working hard while waiting tables in a tight shirt meant to accentuate your boobs is also a way to make a living. But I’m not sure it’s a career choice I’d go out of my way to advocate to my young daughters.
Which is why I can understand why parents at a Florida elementary school are a bit peeved that a Hooters waitress was brought in to talk to a group of special needs kids during a career event, according to St. Petersburg Times.
In her defense, the Hooters waitress left the hot pants and tank top at home (although she was wearing other clothes).

This is one way to wish a tween a happy birthday
While I’ve never stepped inside a Hooters restaurant, I have no doubt their wings and burgers are delicious. And yet, there are plenty of other restaurants that also serve up great hot sauce and grilled sandwiches, which is among the reasons I’ve never been to Hooters, and one of many, many reasons I would never take a child to Hooters.
A Hooters in England is being investigated for serving a 12-year-old boy a “boob-shaped-cake” at his birthday party.
Which makes me wonder — why is Hooters being investigated, exactly? Why isn’t the person who thought it was appropriate to bring children to an adult-themed restaurant being investigated instead?
It's safe to say that Julia Hurley doesn't have to wear this uniform to her new job.
You know that disclaimer you see on the front of all mutual fund brochures? Past performance is no guarantee of future results? That’s written for all the fools who invest in the mutual fund because they expect it to yield a 20% return each and every year, just like it did the year before they invested. That’s written because the past is never a guarantee of what may happen in the future.
And that holds true for more than just investments. Take Julia Hurley, for example. She used to work for the restaurant Hooters. (Delicious wings, by the way. I highly recommend them.) But that fact isn’t necessarily indicative of anything she’ll do in the future. In fact, she just might become a state legislator. OH, WAIT. My bad. She’s already done that. So here’s my question: What’s the big deal?
A newly elected representative in Tennessee says working at an adult-themed restaurant gave her the formula for success
A freshman state representative from Tennessee boasts it’s her experience in tight t-shirts that got her elected as a state representative in the November election. Julia Hurley, 29, says in the current edition of Hooters Magazine (to which I subscribe solely for the articles), “If I could make it at Hooters, I could make it anywhere.”
Not hurting Hurley’s chances was the fact that several former customers contributed to her campaign. She beat out a Democratic incumbent in a conservative district west of Knoxville. Hurley claims she honed her business sense and networking skills while working at Hooters.
Her opponents tried to make her Hooters history a campaign issue, but even the release of her employment history, including photos, failed to stir up voters against her.
After her choir students sang at the Arizona Center recently, choir teacher Mary Segall took them out to lunch at the only downtown Phoenix restaurant that could accomodate their large group of 40 people: Hooters.
That move got the teacher, whose been teaching for 23 years, in hot water. She’s been put on administrative leave, and district official say they believe that there were other restaurants in the area that the group could have chosen instead.
If Bob Elston just took his eleven-year-old to Hooters because they have great wings, we’d probably roll our eyes and move on. But the Virginia dad says he took his son to the restaurant full of scantily-clad waitresses to “see how he conducts himself around women.”
