There is something about the racks, shelves and merchandise in a retail store that brings out the urge to hide in even the most well-behaved child. What parent hasn’t found themselves the unwitting seeker in an impromptu game of hide and seek in a crowded department store? For a parent, it is a gut-wrenching feeling to look around and not see your child where he was standing just two seconds ago. We warn them, we threaten them, we even tether them to our carts. But the irresistible pull of a great hiding spot sometimes gets the better of an adventurous kid.
This is usually how hide and seek goes in my house, as my kid likes to hide in the same place (in the bed) everytime. Actually, it’s not really Hide and Seek at all but me pretending to seek, then pretending to get tired and taking a nap on the bed (aka my daughter) while the bed giggles and I continually tell the bed to hush up.
A Pennsylvania two-year-old wasn’t just good at hide-and-seek. She was “call the cops to find the kid” good.
