If you’re planning a Harry Potter to celebrate Halloween with the kids, be careful. A London mom who likes to throw themed dinner parties has gotten a cease and desist order for her Potter plans.
According to the Telegraph, the lawyer who goes by the name Marmite Lover (er, OK?) received a letter from Warner Bros. warning her that her dinner party in her home was a “copyright infringement.” Continue reading »
In the best-selling series of books that bear his name, Harry Potter and his friends are heroes. It turns out that the same is true in the real world — at least as far as the friends go. Some of the boy wizard’s biggest fans are coming together to protect marriage and keep families together. The Massachusetts-based, non-profit Harry Potter Alliance, “dedicated to using the examples of Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore to spread love,” has organized a “magical day of activism,” according to the group’s executive director, Andrew Slack.

So you’ve nailed down the kids’ Halloween costumes, what about your own?
Whether you’re dressing up for trick-or-treating with your kids or a more grown up night on the town, ABC Action News reports that the top five Halloween costumes for grown-ups are:
New details are finally emerging about the much anticipated and long awaited Harry Potter theme park. Universal Studios will be opening the The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in their Orlando resort next spring in 2010.
This ode to J.K. Rowling work will include a Hogwarts Express train, an owlery, oodles of shops from the village of Hogsmeade that will sell chocolate frogs and extendable ears, eateries selling Butterbeer and pumpkin juice and of course an epically executed Hogwarts. Rowling has been involved in the planning of the park and it presumably has her blessing (and perhaps a special spell or two)… Continue reading »
