Hell hath no fury like women with PMS.
The website everythingidoiswrong.org, which aimed to inform women through a sexist message about the powers of milk to ease the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, did something wrong: It exists. Or, it existed. As of Thursday, it ceased to exist.
The folks behind the misogynistic ads — the California Milk Processor Board — have yanked their campaign, which focused on how men suffer from the effects of PMS along with women. (Cue the violins for the men.)

How much of a funny bone do you have about PMS?
How funny is PMS to you? And how much do you enjoy people laughing at you, not with you?
How you answer those questions will likely help determine what you think of a new website launched by the California milk processor folks, who are also behind the “Got Milk?” campaign.
The site, called “Everything I Do Is Wrong,” is billed as “Your Home for PMS Management” and shows a cowering-looking man holding milk cartons and the caption, “I apologize for letting you misinterpret what I was saying.”
There are a few images or lines on the site that are chuckle-inducing, but here’s another question: Will seeing sexist stereotypes of PMS really induce you to drink more milk, or will it make you lactose intolerant?

The kid and her bottle in better, milk-filled days
Most parents resign themselves to the fact that they will eventually square off with their kids about something of critical importance to one or both of them. While I’m no exception, I didn’t think it would happen before my daughter could speak in full or even partial sentences.
Starting at around a year old, my daughter started drinking water out of a sippy cup, but she still took immense pleasure in drinking milk from a bottle twice daily. However, at her 15-month well-child visit, the pediatrician announced it was time to wean her off the bottle, lest we risk her attending her prom while still sucking on the nipple.
I’m not a milk drinker. I have about one glass a year — usually on an especially cake-heavy day. I drink so little milk that my bones shrivel at the sight of Angie Harmon or any of the other white-mustached models in the guilt-inducing “Got Milk?” campaign.
I also don’t push milk on my children, though they’re more frequent drinkers of the stuff than me.
Turns out? That might not be so bad. And, depending on who you’re talking to, that might be a good thing. Continue reading »
If you build the chocolate milk market, the National Dairy Council says kids will come. And that’s not sitting well with parents.
While the NDC and Milk Processor Education Program push out a new sister program to the Got Milk? campaign that asks kids to “Raise your hand for chocolate milk,” parents and teachers are asking why kids can’t be expected to just raise ‘em for the regular version. Continue reading »
Don’t mess with California or their Milk Advisory Board. The state of California has filed a lawsuit against the Texas Sticker company for using their “Got Milk” trademark for their Got Breastmilk spin off stickers. In the past the Milk Advisory Board has licensed their phrase to for profit companies for T-shirts, stickers and merch. Continue reading »
