That headline is not as much of a joke as it should be.

Writing about South Carolina Republican Senator Jim DeMint, S.C. GOP officials Edwin O. Merwin Jr. and James S. Ulmer Jr. wrote the following in an editorial in the newspaper The Times and Democrat: “There is a saying that the Jews who are wealthy got that way not by watching dollars, but instead by taking care of the pennies and the dollars taking care of themselves.” They have since apologized, according to Huffington Post. (Read about the reasoning behind the whole thing at HuffPo if you are interested.) Interesting side note: Jim DeMint is the guy who said that health care reform was President Obama’s “Waterloo”: “If we’re able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo.
