How are babies made?
So far we’ve gotten away with a simple explanation that babies grow in stomachs and then they pop out one day. In my mind, I was thinking something along the lines of Sigourney Weaver and Alien, while my daughter, not yet 4, seemed to contemplate the idea for a moment before nodding as if it all made sense.

Lose your job and you can lose your male baby. That’s one way of looking at the conclusions of this study.
Okay, I’m not gonna lie, I’m not sure I get all the implications behind this, but here’s what I understand from the results of this study from the University of California, Berkeley:
Evolution created a preservation trigger in females for times of great duress by encouraging the bodies of stressed women to void themselves of male fetuses. And all this has to do with famines. Oh and now losing your job can cause your body to miscarry a boy.

29-year-old Teka Adams is recovering from an emergency birth after a Maryland woman held her captive for days and attempted to cut the fetus out of her stomach.
At a shelter for pregnant woman, Adams befriended 40-year-old Veronica Deramous. Deramous lured Adams back to her apartment with the promise of free baby clothes. Once there Deramous bound the third-trimester mother’s hands and then held her in a bedroom for a number of days. According to police, Deramous employed her 17-year-old son’s help in binding the younger woman.

The single mother who won a suit against the Polish government’s ban on abortion has gained her second success: a Catholic newspaper will have to pay her for equating her attempts to have her pregnancy terminated with murder and the Nazi regime.
Alicja Tysiac was already a mother of two in 2000 when she became pregnant again. Eye doctors advised against carrying the pregnancy to term because she was likely to lose her vision, but doctors refused the terminate the pregnancy. Continue reading »
