First, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution (which you should be watching, it’s awesome) tackled an elementary school in Huntington, W.Virginia. Dear Michael Pollan,
One of my grandmother’s favorite foods is a marshmallow Peep, left out for a day so that it gets nice and crunchy. Somehow, I don’t think that’s what you had in mind when you suggested I never eat anything my grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food in your six simple tricks to feed your family right.
Did you know January is National Soup Month? This month is the epitome of dreary, with holiday bills rolling in, the skies gray, the weather chilly, and we’re staring down three or more months of winter. So ladling up a nice warm, comforting bowl of soup sounds like just what the doctor ordered.

Remember a few years ago when that study came out that French fries were the favored vegetable of toddlers and preschoolers, and, in fact, were sometimes the only vegetable kids get in a day?
Well, that study has been updated, and the news is better, but not great. The Feeding Infants and Toddlers Study, or FITS, found that while kids still don’t get enough fruits and vegetables, there’s some good news as well. Continue reading »
