This couple has taken the insanity of their custody battle to new heights.
“Embroiled in a contentious child custody fight, an Indiana woman decided last month to pose on Facebook as a comely teenage girl in a bid to surreptitiously extract damaging information from her ex-husband,” The Smoking Gun reported on June 7th. The woman, Angela Voelkert, age 29, created a Facebook account for the ficticious Jessica Studebaker, age 17, and asked a friend to use the account to write to her ex-husband, David Voelkert, age 38.

Does this doll look dangerous to you?
A few months ago, a new toy was released that made my ten-year-old a little wistful for her younger years. She thinks she’s too old for it, but Mattel’s new Barbie Video Girl certainly caught her attention.
Perhaps you’ve seen it? She looks like a normal Barbie except for the fact that she’s got a real working video camera in her chest and a screen on her back. How cool is that?
According to the FBI, not cool at all. In a leaked memo linked at Jezebel, the FBI warns that this seemingly harmless toy could be a threat to children.
So, what could Barbie possibly have done to warrant that kind of warning? It’s the video camera, of course. In the wrong hands, it could be used to surreptitiously record child pornography.
A reviewer at Tech Crunch seems to have been the first to grasp the nefarious possibilities of a video camera hidden in a doll. In a video rant posted on the site last summer, Paul Carr goes off, saying the doll is “child abuse waiting to happen.”

It sounded like a ripped-from-a-TV-movie nightmare. Bonnie Sweeten called 911 after her she and her daughter were carjacked and held hostage by a duo of black men. A manhunt ensued, searchers raced against time to rescue the 38-year-old Pennsylvania mom and her 9-year-old daughter.
The searchers would never find the two black men. They never existed. Neither did the carjacking. Meanwhile Sweeten and her daughter were riding It’s a Small World at Disney World. Continue reading »
