You don't really expect us to go to Disney World, do you?
These parents hoped to capture their children’s faces light up as they broke the news that they won’t be going to Chattanooga for their fall vacation because they’re going to Disney World … but instead of the squeals and the OH MY GOSH ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! response that other parents have captured, they are met with a disbelieving “You don’t want to go to Chattanooga?” and tears. Tears!!
As Jezebel.Com titled their post on the video, “This Child Truly Does Not Give a Sh*t AboutDisney World.”
The parents must’ve done some seriously overzealous selling of their original Chattanooga plans to get such profound disappointment to their proposed switch to Disney World. As the mom tries to contain her astonished laughter over the absurdity of the situation, I can’t help but wonder if these are the only children in the world who have ever had this reaction to being offered a week at the place “where dreams come true.” Continue reading »
We survived a week together!
Traveling with small children in tow can be a challenge in the best of situations, but when you find yourself on a family vacation with friends, countless other dynamics come in to play that can make a vacation amazing or a nightmare. Whether the children’s personalities mesh is a big factor, of course, you probably wouldn’t be there if you didn’t know the kids were all on okay terms. But suddenly being privy to your friends’ intimate daily parenting style in close proximity for days on end, for the first time, can truly make or break a family vacation. Especially if it turns out that their style of parenting does not jibe with yours.
So what do you do if you find yourself in the confines of a summer cottage with friends you adore, but whose laissez-faire parenting style is playing havoc with your authoritarian schedule? Or their relentless helicoptering has you exhausted and a nervous wreck? Don’t worry: there are ways to avoid getting to that point with a little extra planning.
Blogger Miss Britt is doing something unusual. She and her family are spending the next year living in a 24-foot RV, traveling around the country.
That’s her, her husband and their two kids. She’s continuing to work as a blogger and freelance writer. Her husband is taking on the task of homeschooling the kids, who are leaving school behind. For a year, this family will have no schedule, no fixed address and no outside commitments. They’ll live very cheaply, and they’ll see the country. That’s their goal.
I love to travel. I’ve taken some long trips with my kids, to some exotic locations. But I can’t imagine giving up our home and routines for a year.

Have you heard of the Disney Cruise Line? Here are just some of the thing they offer: live Disney shows, “meet-and-greets” with the Disney characters, children’s clubs and adults-only spots as well. None of those sound good? Okay, fine. How about first-run movies at the theater onboard?
Are your kids looking to get away from their geeky parents? Not a problem. From a Little Mermaid themed daycare to Vibe, a place where 14 to 17 year olds can chill out and listen to music, watch TV or play the latest and greatest video games, kids should be able to find whatever it is they’re looking for, regardless of their age.

You think you know of a bad honeymoon story? I certainly thought I did. Not my honeymoon, mind you, but rather one of my friend’s. Something about a cruise, hail storms and 72-hour bouts with seasickness. Oh. And bronchitis. But honestly? What my friend and his wife went through is nothing compared to what a Swedish couple endured when they ran into not one, not two, but six natural disasters during their honeymoon.
How much do you worry about terrorist threats when you fly with your family?
Just a few days before Christmas and during the busiest travel week of the year, a terminal in New Jersey’s Liberty International Airport in Newark was shut down this morning after radiation emitted by a computer monitor sparked fears of a bomb.
The FBI, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and a bomb squad all investigated the device, which was being shipped in checked baggage on the same flight as its owner. The amount of radiation emitted by the monitor was found to be normal and was ultimately declared to pose no imminent harm, so the closed terminal promptly reopened.
The scare was triggered when the computer monitor was discovered behind a counter, and Transportation Security Administration Bomb Appraisal Officers were alerted by employees just after 7:00 a.m. this morning. Vehicular traffic in and out of the airport was halted while the bomb squad hurried to the scene. Continue reading »
