Lately, I’ve had a series of bad days. I don’t know why. I know that every mom has them, and that makes me feel a little better. But at least now I can try and predict when they’re coming. Because there are always harbingers — if you’re just alert enough to identify them. Sadly, I haven’t been truly alert in about eight and a half years. Something about the short people in my house never, ever sleeping. Which means the badness of these bad days usually comes a surprise.
Sigh … Someday I’ll learn.
According to a new study, middle-income American parents work more hours than the wealthy or the poor. Almost 60 percent of middle-class households have both parents working outside the home. And we’re exhausted by it.
Our work/life imbalance has turned sleep into a luxury item few of us can afford, even when we do get our kids to sleep through the night. Continue reading »
New moms might be better off staying home and taking a nap than getting behind the wheel of their car. That’s according to a new study out of Australia, where researchers claim that sleep-deprived moms are at higher risk of an accident when they get behind the wheel.
