Apparently there are few limits as to what is accepted for sale on eBay
Had eBay existed when I was a kid, I’m sure I would have debated the feasibility of offering up my sister for a small fee. Of course she’s older and stronger, so I can see that packaging and shipping her might not have been without their headaches, but it would have been fun to think about nonetheless.
I’m guessing most anyone with a sibling or other annoying family member — younger or older — can sympathize to an extent with the Michigan teen who put her 2-year-old cousin up for sale on eBay. To an extent. Thinking about it is one thing. But doing it is quite another.
A 19-year-old girl in Michigan said she was bored while babysitting for her cousin on Sunday night when she put up the ad, which read: “Kid For Sale: An adorable child for sale, can clean and hold a decent conversation. Very lovable but I just outgrew her.”
It’s an old joke: “If these kids don’t quiet down, I’m going to sell them to the highest bidder on eBay.” But when someone reported an ad they saw on Craigslist advertising two toddler boys for sale, authorities say it was no laughing matter.
Joshua Stagnitto of Brockport, N.Y. thought he’d get some laughs from family, friends, and a few strangers when placed his listing on Craigslist. The boys, ages 1 and 2, were advertised as “child slaves or footstools,” who came with a dozen diapers and a dirty t-shirt.
Pricing started at $40 for one, $200 for the pair. That should have been enough evidence to prove that Stagnitto wasn’t serious, since everyone knows that to encourage a timely sale of noisy, bothersome children you offer a reduced price for two.
But I kid.
In 2007, Stan Murmur was an art teacher at Monacan High School in Richmond, Virginia. He was, by all accounts, a well-respected and dedicated teacher. But a video on YouTube changed all that. The clip showed Murmur, dressed only in a turban, Groucho glasses and a g-string, creating art with his butt. He called this unusual method of painting “anthropometric monotype,” but Chesterfield School Board members called it inappropriate and promptly fired him. Continue reading »

The photo is from the 1930′s, apparently of a “Pennsylvania Mountain Lady.” What is she doing? Well, she’s “suckling both a baby deer and a child at the same time.”
