Can you tell if your child's school bus driver has been drinking?
Do you ever wonder how safe your kids are once you drop them off on the school bus? While many of us might worry about the bus breaking down or making to it school on time, how many of us contemplate if the school bus driver might have been drinking? Would your child know what to do if he suspected the driver was inebriated? What she be able to identify it?
One group of school kids not only recognized that their own driver was drunk, but they quickly took action, which shows that kids and cell phones can be an invaluable mix, especially when it comes to safety.
Mitchel Musso, Hannah Montana's Oliver, arrested last night for DUI.
Former Disney star Mitchel Musso, who played Oliver Oken on “Hannah Montana,” was arrested last night for allegedly driving drunk.
While driving his Mercedes in Burbank, he was pulled over after driving past the scene of an accident and not following an officer’s instructions. He was given a blood alcohol test, and was “well over” the legal limit of .08, according to a police officer who spoke with the Burbank Leader. Musso, 20, has not reached the legal drinking age.
TMZ reports he paid $5000 bail and was released several hours later.

Today is the two-year anniversary of the horrific, mysterious accident where Diane Schuler, age 36 and the mother of two, drove the wrong way down the Taconic Parkway 70MPH with her two children and three young nieces inside. 49-year-old Detroit mother Latanya Renee Evans was arrested Friday and charged with Driving Under the Influence after her 9-year-old daughter slipped a teller at Bank of America a note saying she thought her mother was driving drunk. The 9-year-old refused to get back in the car with Evans, so Evans drove away, leaving the child at the bank. Continue reading »
Drowsy driving is a lot like drunk driving.
Ever succumb to the desire to just snap that screaming baby into the car and take her for a long, soothing drive? The more tired you get, the more tempting it is to let the car seat lull your fussy little one to sleep.
Try that in New Jersey and you’d be breaking the law.
That’s because New Jersey is the only state with a law prohibiting driving while sleep deprived. I wonder how any law-abiding new parent in New Jersey gets to work, or buys groceries. My kids have been waking me up at all hours for the past six years. If I lived there, I’d have to surrender my license.
Most Mommies and Daddies need a drink now and then. If Mad Men has taught us anything it’s good little boys and girls know how to mix dear old dad a good Bloody Mary. Whether you’re a drinker or a teetotaler, everyone has different rules when it comes to the combination of alcohol and kids. Some people are okay with having a couple glasses of wine while the kids are about; other won’t touch the stuff until the kids are snug in bed.
