2.2 million babies owe their lives to one man and his very unique blood. Actually, because James Harrison has been donating his special blood for over 56 years, many of those babies have grown up to have children and even become grandparents. So the real number of lives Harrison is responsible for is exponentially higher.
10 months ago, 2-year-old Layla Grace was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer. The prognosis was dim; Layla would probably lose this battle with her disease. As Layla’s parents struggled to appreciate the remaining days they had left with their daughter, they decided to share their grief in a decidedly 21st century way.

Do you have a real Christmas tree? A lot of people are switching to artificial trees these days but we opted for a real tree — although in our house it’s a Holiday Tree, rather than a Christmas Tree. Whatever you call your tree — a Christmas tree, ein Tannenbaum, a Chanukah bush, or simply a Holiday Tree — if it’s real, you may want to be a bit careful; there may be blood-sucking parasites lurking amongst its branches.
Although the swine flu may very well be a popular costume this year, that’s the only kind you want to let in your door. To help prevent the other kind — the contagious, potentially serious kind — from replacing tummyaches as the aftermath of Halloween trick-or-treating, experts are offering some tips for staying safe and healthy this year. Naturally, if you or your kids are not feeling well, you probably want to stay home and not pass out candy — you don’t want to pass out germs along with the goodies.
I’m all for keeping kids from doing things that they shouldn’t. But this ad seems a tad extreme.
