Anyone who says the health care system isn’t broke never said that to the face of a young child who lost his mother. Marcelas Owens, whose mother died of pulmonary hypertension, is taking his message straight to congress.
“The health care system is broken, and it caused my mother’s death,” Marcelas said in an interview on MSNBC.
Back during the Democratic National Convention in 2008, Joe Biden gave an passionate, often teary-eyed speech that evoked the strength and virtue of his mother.
”My mother’s creed is the American creed,” he said, “No one is better than you. Everyone is your equal, and everyone is equal to you…We learned the dignity of work, and we were told that anyone can make it if they just try hard enough.”
The woman who played the most influential role in Joe Biden’s life, his mother Catherine Biden, passed away at the age of 92.
Some notebooks and pencils delivered to Columbia, MO schools have administrators and parents all in a tizzy. Featuring the words “Change We Can Believe In” and a red, white and blue circular logo, the school supplies were available for sale in schools across the state. At least they were available for sale. After some parents and Missouri school officials complained about them, the supply company who provided them began traveling across the state retrieving the offending items. Continue reading »

pro-choice” Democrats who jumped the aisle to support the Stupak Amendment in the House health reform bill will receive coathangers as an early Christmas gift from angry abortion-rights activists. No doubt the gifts will be received with all the love that went into sending them.
Credo Action (an activist network tied to the Credo Mobile cell phone company) is running an Internet campaign to deliver signed petitions along with piles of coathangers to the “pro-choice” congress-critters (all men) who voted for the amendment, which activists say restricts abortion access. Quick anecdote. I was in an airport recently and saw the following. (What, you don’t follow me on Twitter? For shame.) In the lounge, there were two TVs. One side was showing CNN, the other one had Fox News. The two sides were separated by a low partition made of an opaque glass. Each side could see the other, but not clearly, and you could only hear the TV report that was nearby. Sound familiar?
Anyway, Representative Mike Pence (Republican from Indiana) said on Fox News that he hopes “the recession is leveling off” and that “Slowing the rate of descent is encouraging…But I really believe that it’s in spite of the prescriptions of Washington, D.C.” Continue reading »
