Arguably, bullying is a part of life for some kids. Tough as it is, no one expects a kid to die from bullying.
But that’s just what happened at a Massachusetts school.
In January, Phoebe Prince, 15, hung herself from a stairwell in her family home. A prosecutor claims the taunting and physical threats from nine teenagers pushed the young girl to take her own life. Anyone who says the health care system isn’t broke never said that to the face of a young child who lost his mother. Marcelas Owens, whose mother died of pulmonary hypertension, is taking his message straight to congress.
“The health care system is broken, and it caused my mother’s death,” Marcelas said in an interview on MSNBC.
17-month-old Bronson Staker’s mom, Sara, only turned her back on her son in the tub for a minute. An older brother distracted her. Anyone with more than one kid knows this situation all too well. Yet, in just that moment, Sara turned back to find her child lying face down in the tub. At the hospital, Bronson was pronounced dead on arrival. But doctors tried a “Hail Mary” last-ditch effort to possibly save the baby by freezing him back to life. Continue reading »
Anyone who doubts the Internet’s addictive potential need only look at this sad case of child neglect. A husband and wife have been caught and arrested after their 3-month-old daughter died of severe dehydration and malnutrition. The couple had been on the run for five months. Police say the couples’ addiction to online gaming led them to spend all their time at an Internet café, only coming home once a day to feed their child. Continue reading »

Shut up. The police investigation into this tragedy has found Shellie Ross blameless in her two-year-old’s accidental drowning earlier this week.
“Her tweeting had nothing to do with what happened with regard to her son,” said Brevard County Sheriff’s Homicide Agent Joe Martin. “It was an accident.” Continue reading »
On Monday evening, a Florida family lost their two-year-old when the boy fell in a pool and quickly drowned. Rescuers tried and failed to save the boy, who was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The baby’s mother, Shellie Ross, posted the tragedy to Twitter in real time, saying, “Please pray like never before, my 2 yr old fell in the pool” a few minutes after the accident.
A tweet she has apparently deleted from her feed, after controversy erupted across Twitter and the blogosphere.
