Viral Video: Dancing Twins Rock The House [Video]
I can’t resist each and every new viral video of cute kids and pets that comes my way.
I mean, have you ever watched one and wanted that minute of your life back? I haven’t. At the very least I smile and at the most, I call my husband in to watch and post it on my Facebook page.
This latest viral vid has something like two million views, mostly acquired over the weekend. These two ultra serious twins dancing to their Wii crack me up. Not to mention they’re dancing to one of my favorite songs of the past decade. It’s strange to me – who grew up with Atari (yes, I said Atari) and later the very earliest version of Nintendo – that video gaming are no longer a sedentary event.
So prepare to be laugh as these two little dudes hake it like a Polaroid picture… The kid on the right has got some funky moves for such a tiny squirt: Continue reading »
The Ultimate Daddy-Daughter Wedding Dance [VIDEO]
I never had a wedding, thank God. Never even dreamed about The Big Day when I was a little girl. Perhaps that’s because my dad wasn’t around and, having spent most of my childhood on food stamps, I knew nobody would be footing the bill for anything fancy.
Then, as I got older and friends started to plan weddings that took over their entire lives for months and months and months and months and months, and I saw them turn into shells of their former selves, collapsing under the pressure of limited seating in chapels, seating charts at receptions, steak or chicken and bridesmaid drama – well, let’s just say I stood firm in my decision to never have a wedding. Whole lotta trouble for not much return, I figured. Why drop a crapload of cash on just one day, I reasoned? A day when two out of my three brothers would likely get drunk and start a fight and some family member would leave the party vowing to never speak to another family member… Might as well save my sanity and my money for a down payment on a house.
I got married secretly at a retired judge’s home. His wife stood in as witness. We went to the Red Lobster for our honeymoon because we had a coupon. I’d do it all over again. No muss, no fuss – HOWEVER. A couple years ago I watched this viral video and if anything could ever convince me to have a wedding it was this. How fun! But then I thought of all the hours of rehearsing and stress that routine probably added to the usual wedding madness and, once again, felt good about my decision to never have a wedding.
Now, again, a new video is storming the internet. One that tugs at my heart strings and makes me sort of regret my weddingless life. It’s okay, though. I’ve got a 2-year-old daughter I can live through, right? So maybe I should get her and her pops working on their daddy-daughter dance early, because, dammit, someone in this family should have a proper wedding!
The new viral video is from Bountiful, Utah. What started out as a traditional slow dance between Laura Benyon Hughes, and her father suddenly turned into Utah’s version of “So You Think You Can Dance.” Continue reading »
Little “Single Ladies” Pump and Grind on YouTube
Forget about babies in bikinis controversy. The pre-pubescent girls who strut their stuff to Beyonce’s “All the Single Ladies” in this racy viral video make Madonna look downright quaint.
Dressed in skimpy two-piece costumes that emphasize their non-existent curves, the 8 and 9-year-old girls gyrate like pole dancers rather than 3rd graders. The video, which was shot at the World of Dance Competition in Pomona, California last month, has been viewed more than 1.7 million times and has created quite a stir.
Critics say the video exemplifies the sexualization of young girls in popular culture.
“These lingerie-laden girls, who are said to be about seven, bumped, grinded, shimmied and shaked their way through the hit dance song. Suggestively lip synching that ‘he liked it so much he put a ring on it’,” Famecrawler wrote yesterday.
Most of the people commenting on the video are appalled. Someone called it a “pedophile recruitment video.” But Famecrawler points out that a few commenters defend the sexy moves. One woman wrote, “The choreographer went a bit far, but it’s a dance… nothing else. These girls are obviously pretty professional and dedicated to dance at an early age. They will spend their lives in a dance studio training for competitions, not on a street corner.”

New Snack May Make You Dance
First there were deep fried twinkies. Then came, horrifyingly enough, Jimmy Dean’s Pancake and Sausage on a Stick.
Now, some guy in Texas has created the newest contender, and likely victor, in the race to harden your arteries: deep-fried butter.
When Kids Parties Border on Abuse: Freaking 6-Year-Olds
I hate to be a prude or the old guy who stands on his lawn and shakes his fist at passing children, but in my day … when we had birthday parties, we actually played Pin the Tail on the Donkey. We actually smacked a pinata and gathered around to blow out candles.
We never filled up the patio with kids who appear to be as young as 4 and held a freak dancing contest, with the winner being the kid who can best simulate sex on the dance floor.
Sometimes, there are no words. Continue reading »
