Looking for a Baby Daddy on Craigslist
If this Craigslist posting is a joke, I don’t get it. If the post is real, well it is heartbreaking.
Evidently, a single mother in Pittsburgh posted a listing in the personals section “Women seeking Men,” and it wasn’t for romance or a date, it was for someone to help take care of her and her baby.

It’s an old joke: “If these kids don’t quiet down, I’m going to sell them to the highest bidder on eBay.” But when someone reported an ad they saw on Craigslist advertising two toddler boys for sale, authorities say it was no laughing matter.
Joshua Stagnitto of Brockport, N.Y. thought he’d get some laughs from family, friends, and a few strangers when placed his listing on Craigslist. The boys, ages 1 and 2, were advertised as “child slaves or footstools,” who came with a dozen diapers and a dirty t-shirt.
Pricing started at $40 for one, $200 for the pair. That should have been enough evidence to prove that Stagnitto wasn’t serious, since everyone knows that to encourage a timely sale of noisy, bothersome children you offer a reduced price for two.
But I kid.
Last year, my then three-year-old wanted one thing for Christmas: Groovy Girls. Groovy Girl dolls, Groovy Girl beds, Groovy Girl cars. One look at the prices left me a little dizzy, until I got the idea to look them up on Craigslist. Low and behold, there was an 11-year-old girl selling her entire collection. For $20.
Watch out parents – the next time your kid announces “you’re the meanest daddy, EVER” (yes, that really happened in my house), they might power up the Internet and try to sell you.

Another day, another disgruntled person using Craigslist as a means of revenge.
This time it’s Elizabeth A. Thrasher, a 40-year-old (read: should know better) Missouri woman who had a “deteriorating relationship” with the woman her ex-boyfriend was dating. (Because that’s unusual.) The woman’s 17-year-old daughter got involved in some virtual back-and-forth and sent Thrasher a MySpace message that commanded she “grow up.”
A Massachusetts mother wasn’t expecting to find her seven-month-old in the center of an international adoption scam. But all it took was an e-mail to a Craigslist poster, and a picture of her bouncing boy filled her screen.
