Oops! My Kid Watched My Sex Tape
Well, not my kid and definitely not my sex tape. But Momlogic guest-blogger Margie (last name not given for fairly obvious reasons) says her tween daughter found her sex tape and watched it. Sure, kids need to learn about the birds and the bees, but not at age 9 via homemade instructional video starring Mom and Dad.
While the story seems fairly innocuous (Margie says she caught her daughter watching the tape, by accident, about 10-seconds in and stopped it immediately), I have to ask, what makes people want to make sex tapes to begin with??? Homemade porn is fodder for many a comedian, and while I’ve never talked about it on stage, the concept just blows my mind. (My sketch partners and I mock it in this remake of the Sophie B. Hawkins classic, I Wish You Were My Lover – NSFW.) Then again, I’m not really into the professional stuff, either. I’ve got a pretty vivid fantasy life, and if I wanted to see bad acting, I could just borrow my mother’s copy of All About Steve. (Fun fact: Sandra Bullock won the Oscar for Best Actress and the Razzie for Worst Actress in the same year.) Now there’s a woman who should probably be making sex tapes. But since she’s a parent, then again, maybe not. Let’s hope Sandra doesn’t end up like Margie, with a forgotten tape lying around. How do you explain to your adopted son that he’s seeing his would-have-been Dad making love to his Mom right before she caught him cheating with a woman who has a swastika tattooed on her face? Nazi face is inappropriate even for a sex tape. (Okay, I know. The swastika isn’t on her face. But the camera would probably be spending more time closer to where it actually is, anyway.) High School Kids Cheat. A Lot.
You know you taught them better than that, but when it comes to cheating at school most kids admit to finding a little wiggle room on the old moral compass. It’s not that they weren’t listening when you stressed the importance of being honest and true. It’s more a case of selective application. Continue reading »
Fascinating New Studies on “The Science of a Happy Marriage”

Tara Parker-Pope, New York Times columnist and author of the new book, For Better: The Science of a Good Marriage, has written a piece detailing several scientific experiments trying to decipher people’s motives for cheating and the factors that lead to a contented relationship.
Parker-Pope says research suggests “that while some people may be naturally more resistant to temptation, men and women can also train themselves to protect their relationships and raise their feelings of commitment.” You hear that, ladies? As you potty train your babies, you can pooty train your husbands. (Okay, okay. If the 30,000 women signing up for Ashley Madison yesterday is any indication, I guess women cheat, too.)
Hasse Walum of the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, “studied 552 sets of twins to learn more about a gene related to the body’s regulation of the brain chemical vasopressin, a bonding hormone.” For the record, it’s been a long time since someone was pressin’ my vas. I’m happy to bond with any interested parties. Haha?
As it turns out, “men who carried a variation in the gene were… more likely to have had serious marital problems and unhappy wives. Among men who carried two copies of the gene variant, about a third had experienced a serious relationship crisis in the past year.” My ex-husband is a twin, and given the severity of our marital problems, I’m gonna assume he carries three copies. Wah-wah! (What’s the emoticon for depressed sarcasm? I think it’s ;( – though my friend Baron Vaughn says that means, “makes me sad that I like you.” Both translations apply.)
Research out of McGill University indicates that men and women in relationships react differently to flirtation. “In a study of 300 heterosexual men and women, half the participants were primed for cheating by imagining a flirtatious conversation with someone they found attractive. The other half just imagined a routine encounter. Afterward, the study subjects were asked to complete fill-in-the-blank puzzles like LO_AL and THR__T.”
Now stop. If you’re married, take a minute to imagine yourself flirting with your boss, or your favorite bartender, or if you’re a new mom and you don’t get out much, the man in the yellow hat. (He is kinda hot. But I’m a sucker for nerds.) Then fill in the blanks on those words, and I’ll tell you what it means after the jump. Continue reading »
Over 30,000 Women Sign Up For Ashley Madison The Day After Mother’s Day
OK, ladies. Who signed up for this website yesterday? Raise your hands. And please explain yourself in the comments (anonymously if you like).
I wrote last week about Ashley Madison’s prediction that almost 30,000 women would enroll in its guaranteed cheating service the Monday after Mother’s Day. Today they report that 31,427 new accounts were opened by women yesterday. This is more than 10 times the traffic they get on a regular day.
Moms Cheat Most Right After Mother’s Day
MomLogic reports that AshleyMadison.com, the dating site for married people, sees it’s second-biggest surge in women signing up the day after Mother’s Day.
Apparently, when women don’t get pampered enough by their husbands on Mother’s Day, they go looking elsewhere on Monday morning.
Sandy and Elin: Divorce Your Husbands, Save the Kids
Even though it’s old news, I still find myself heartbroken for Sandra Bullock. How humiliating to have spent the past few months gushing about her marriage only to find out that her husband, Jesse James, didn’t have her back. Or maybe he did, but he also happened to have the backs of several other women.
Now I’m reading that it’s a “positive sign for her marriage” that Bullock is caring for James’ children while he’s in rehab. At the same time, according to Radaronline, a custody battle could be brewing as Tiger Woods complains about missing his kids while his wife, Elin, spends more time in her native Sweden. Our Little Genius: Kid’s Quiz Show Caught Cheating
Have you ever seen the movie Quiz Show? Great movie, excellent movie. If you haven’t seen it, it goes like this: back in the 50′s quiz shows programs were crazy popular. You know, because there was only one channel then and no American Idol. Also, people back then believed the things they saw on TV were real.
Anywho, turns out the most popular show, Twenty One, was feeding their contestants the answers so they could control who won and therefore pick the players with the most audience appeal. People found out and IT ROCKED THE NATION. I know, hard to imagine that kind of outrage now over a TV show. ”What do you mean the latest Bachelor and his chosen mate are broken up? They said they were in love!”
