Wanted: A Tutor for Gwyneth Paltrow’s Kids. Pick Me! Pick Me!

It's a tough job being a six-figure tutor for the kids of a Renaissance woman, but someone's got to do it
I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up: Gwyneth Paltrow’s tutor.
Well, not her tutor, but the tutor for her kids with husband, rock star Chris Martin. Apparently they’re looking to hire someone for $98,000 a year plus an all-expense paid, free apartment in West London and free travel with the family as they amble around the world.
The commitment isn’t ideal — between 2 and 4 hours a day — since I had been hoping for just 45 minutes to an hour, max. But I’ll deal.
Zsa Zsa Gabor To Become a New Mother… at 94?
Zsa Zsa Gabor has never been one to shy away from the limelight. But she’s been pretty quiet in recent years. Probably because she’s in her nineties and experiencing major health problems, including a hip replacement and a leg amputation in the last year. She has been unable to walk since 2002. Now her husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, has told the media he intends to make Zsa Zsa a mother again at the spry age of 94.
His plan, he says, is to use “an egg donor, artificial insemination and a surrogate mother”. I’m not sure that combination of things is even scientifically possible, but then, von Anhalt does not seem to be a man governed by logic. The Prince was asked whether he was concerned that Zsa Zsa might be too old to take care of a new baby. But the Prince is unconcerned:
“I’m a retired guy, I can take care of it.” (Pronoun choice noted.) So how old is this guy? Continue reading »
RIE: The Latest in Parenting Crazes
Tobey Maguire does it! Helen Hunt and Felicity Huffman do it, too! The “it” is an approach to parenting called RIE (Resources for Infant Educators). Described as a “back-to-basics” approach, RIE and its celebrity parents reject enrollment in swim and dance classes in favor of quieter times shared by baby and parent at home and, you know, in RIE classes.
RIE sounds like a touch of Montessori mixed with a smidgen of Waldorf in its attention to quiet, order, and common sense in early childhood education. Up until recently it’s been mostly local to LA, but now they’re ready to roll out into 1,700 Head Start classrooms and into your local bookstore. The latter must be why we’re hearing about how some celebrities are raising their kids. So what’s it all about? Continue reading »
$750 Mil and Your Family: So, Tiger: Worth It?
This time last year, we saw Tiger Woods as a happily married man with a beautiful wife and family: a toddler, a baby. In a world of celebrity bad behavior, his was the rare happy family, and even people who didn’t care much about golf–like me–had him at least pegged as a good guy. Now, of course, he’s completely disgraced. His wasn’t just infidelity but cheating of the shoddiest kind. He’s tabloid and joke fodder, and gossip sites ( I favor the Hollywood Gossip today) are reporting that his divorce settlement will be the highest in any celebrity divorce, ever: $750 million. He’ll share “legal” custody of his now 3- and 1-year-old children, but his ex-wife will have them full time. He can never bring any other women around the kids.
And his soon-to-be-ex wife, Elin, can never, ever speak publicly about the events surrounding their divorce. No interviews. No TV. No books. Not now, not ever (even after Tiger’s death). Why? Continue reading »
Hello, Lourdes: Madonna’s Daughter Blogs
Ok, I was hoping for a little tell-all scoop on what it’s like to be the ultimate Material Girl’s daughter, too. But mostly, what we have here is a little marketing for a Material Girl clothing line–and maybe the tiniest glimpse of Madonna the Mommy. Or is fourteen just the age when everyone starts letting their daughters dye their hair? Continue reading »
