It had to be a horrific site, one of those moments that seems to happen in slow-motion:
Nick Harris, 32, was driving his daughter to school when he saw a Mercury sedan back up out of a driveway and run over a six-year-old girl.
The “driver” behind a traffic accident in Zanesville, Ohio this year won’t be able to get his license for another thirteen years. He’s only three.

An announcement from a bunch of famous number crunchers this morning almost spelled an end to the booster seat. But not so fast – also released is an announcement from a bunch of children’s health professionals who say the booster seat is saving kids.
The researchers at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Center for Injury Research and Prevention found there’s a forty-five percent reduction in risk of injury for kids in booster seats in an accident than for kids wearing just a seatbelt. Continue reading »

News that a thirteen-year-old practicing driving in the Bronx ran down and killed his father has put all those “aww, how cute, a kid driving” stories in perspective.
The rash of recent stories of kids allowed behind the wheel – either for a joke or by drunk parents – have earned a lot of clucking and head-shaking but overall little cause for real outrage. Continue reading »
