I’m not saying a thing about Texas, because I’m sure it’s a perfectly lovely state. But as soon as I read about kindergartner Taylor Pugh being kicked out of his kindergarten classroom for his moderatlely long hair style, I said to myself, “Must be Texas.”
And I wasn’t wrong. I’m just sayin’.
On Tuesday, we heard about a Boston area boy who was apparently suspended for drawing a picture of Jesus on the cross after his teacher asked the class to draw something that reminded them of Christmas.
School administrators allegedly called the drawing violent, referred the boy to a psychiatrist, and suspended him from school, putting advocacy groups up in arms over religious freedom.
But there are two sides to every story, and this story’s other side just came out: It wasn’t Jesus on the cross, it was the boy himself.
A day of play in the sun with friends sounds like a great day in the sun, but when a toddler gets a severe sunburn, whose fault is it?

If you’re a fan of the HBO hit True Blood (and believe me, I am), then you know that one thing that sets the vampires apart from humans is that when they cry, they cry blood. It’s a pretty spooky sight.
But those vampires are fictional. Calvino Inman is a real live 15-year-old boy, perfectly normal except for the fact that, about three times a day, his eyes well up and spill over with blood — an event that can last up to an hour. Continue reading »
