Blame the hormones?
There has to be some explanation for this special subset of priceless collection of pictures over on Awkward Family Photos. These Awkward Pregnancy Photos are beyond awkward, they’re awful. But, I mean, go look at them anyway because they’re also hilarious.
Just like the site that birthed these babies, the photo captions are worth the click. (This blogger does a pretty great job with the commentary, too.)
They’re all good, but here’s a sample:
Every mom thinks her baby is the cutest, and takes about 15,000 photos to prove it.
Baby Mila’s mama might actually be right. Her baby photos are the cutest thing ever. In almost daily posts, she poses her sleeping baby in dream sequences and snaps a photo. Mila has been a rockstar, a city-eating monster, and a butterfly. All in her sleep.
Watch your back, Anne Geddes! These images are so sweet, they’ll make your heart melt.
Time is running short to get that perfect shot of your kids for the annual Christmas card, if you’re the sort of person who does such a thing — I am not. However, I do enjoy taking pictures of my kids in my own amateurish snapshotty way and I find getting a baby to both 1) hold still and b) look at the camera is an enormously ridiculous challenge.

The editor of a British parenting magazine has admitted that baby images that appear in glossy mags are as doctored as those of already undernourished females who appear in fashion magazines. OK, my kid was pretty damn cute when she was born – not alien-looking at all. But like fine wine and cheese, she’s definitely gotten better with age.
