A charter school in Philadelphia is being investigated for possibly renting its cafeteria out as a nightclub on weekend nights.
The catty girls in the cafeteria may not change much at all when they grow up–sometimes they evolve into those malicious moms that post outrageous comments about parenting online. Yeah, we all know them. Those nasty, know-it-all virtual finger-pointers whose judgmental slurs are giddily delivered as a verbal bitch slap to their intended target–other moms.
You’d think the only thing that feminists and libertarians could possibly agree on with the Sarah Palins of the world is the color of milk. Turns out there may be a new wave of feminism that embraces at least one socially conservative value: the anti-raunch movement.
Guilt is the lynch-pin of the holy trinity of daily maternal emotions ( with the others being fear and anxiety). A recent list of “31 Reasons You Shouldn’t Feel Mom Guilt” gives you permission to relax a little! Even Super Mom needs a cheap thrill now and then. A few highlights:
Last Thursday, 32-year-old Kelly Bottom went to use the restroom and didn’t emerge alone. She gave birth to a baby. And she didn’t know that she was pregnant.
Concerned that doctors and hospitals are thinking more about legal ramifications, rather than a woman’s health, the National Institutes of Health issued a statement today essentially telling doctors and hospitals to stop banning vaginal births after cesareans.
Instead, a NIH consensus panel recommended that pregnant women and their caregivers use evidence-based decision-making in deciding whether to attempt a trial of labor rather than scheduling a c-section. Since then, countless unborn babies have swooned to Sinatra, gotten down with Aretha and rocked out to KISS right alongside mom and dad…months before they ever saw the light of day.
