After reading the heart-wrenching story, I can see why:

A New Jersey mom is in hot water after losing her temper at a school board seminar on bullying.
Cindy Schwalb says her 13-year-old daughter had recently been the victim of sexual harassment and bullying at Hasbrouck Heights Middle School. During gym class, she says, a male student pulled the girl’s sweatpants down to her ankles in full view of her classmates. Continue reading »
Lauri Price, a 42 year old Houston mom remains in custody on Wednesday, accused of flying to Canada to have a sexual encounter with a 16 year old boy with whom she had an online relationship for about a year.
He was fourteen when he escaped a drunken father and an abusive stepmother. At sixty-four, former foster kid Steve Bevelheimer has finally been adopted.

South Park is a comedy show often accused of being socially irresponsible. The show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, endeavor to make fun of everything and everybody and usually the results are harmless and funny. But one particular episode that first aired in 2005 turned out not to be so funny for some kids. That episode featured one of the show’s characters creating a new holiday called “Kick a Ginger Day.” “Ginger” refers to red-haired, pale-skinned, freckled people and the purpose of the fake holiday is to abuse them. When seven-month-old Shannon Dedrick disappeared from her family’s home last week, apparently nabbed right from her crib, everyone feared the worst. Missing for five days, authorities were losing hope of finding Shannon alive.
But in a mysterious twist, police did find her safe and sound — tucked into a box and hidden under her babysitter’s bed.
In recent weeks, Mayumi Heene, also known as Balloon Mom, has been described as a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Richard Heene. But an ABC News article suggests that the mother at the center of the Balloon Boy hoax might be a little too devoted and raises the question of whether she may in fact be an abused wife suffering at the hands of a domineering husband.
That same article quotes Richard Heene’s former business partner, Barbara Slusser, stating that Mayumi’s Japanese background and history of growing up with an “overbearing and abusive” father made her the perfect choice of wife for Richard Heene. Slusser even uses the word “slave” when describing Mayumi’s relationship with her husband. Continue reading »
