One Million Moms Should Be Ashamed of Themselves
The only thing OneMillionsMoms.com is doing is spreading hate.
Is there anything more infuriating than when hate groups pose as supporters of family values?
OneMillionMoms.com, the hate group in question “online project of the American Family Association,” is apparently deeply disturbed by the recent announcement that talk show host and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres has become the new spokesperson for JCPenney.
They say:
Funny that JCPenney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of its customers are traditional families. DeGeneres is not a true representation of the type of families that shop at their store. The majority of JCPenney shoppers will be offended and choose to no longer shop there.
Funny the way it is, indeed.
It’s funny how in 2012, people think that a person’s sexual preference is any of their business. It’s even funnier when mothers who claim to be all about family values project and exude hate.
And by funny, I mean disgusting.
What kind of world do we live in where Michael Vick can kill, torture and maim dogs and then is praised for becoming the Nike spokesperson, but Ellen, who has never hurt anyone in her life, can be condemned for who she loves? Try explaining any logic in that to our kids — I can’t.
Ellen is the epitome of how I’d like my kids to grow up: kind, caring, thoughtful, smart, considerate — and hysterically funny on top of it all! She is a genuinely good person, the kind you’d want your kids to look up to. She’s even a role model for me. Her show is one of the very few I can always watch with my kids because her type of funny is never risque or suggestive. She is purely entertaining while also using her show to do good.
This year, she is helping fund low-performing public schools across the country. Just yesterday, in partnership with JCPenney, Ellen gave $100,000 to a school in Pennsylvania where 40 percent of teachers were let go due to budget cuts. She did the same to a very poor school in Las Vegas, where the principal was using her own money just to help her student’s families have food, and had Justin Bieber perform for the kids. Ellen also supports several pet organizations and is a huge animal lover.
JCPenney says they are thrilled to partner with Ellen: “We share the same fundamental values as Ellen. At JCPenney, we couldn’t think of a better partner to help us put the fun back into the retail experience.” In response to the OneMillionMoms hate campaign, GLAAD has launched their own called Stand Up For Ellen.
I’ve loved Ellen since she was on her sitcom Ellen. (And as soon as her character came out on the show back in 1997, the show was abruptly cancelled.)
It’s 2012, people. Let’s not stand for this hateful message anymore.

She is hilarious and so caring for everyone even animals. To be honest now that Ellen is the new spokesperson for JCPENNY it actually makes me wanna go shop there. Its sad how people are still so blind to see the good in people.

I’m also amused that the One Million Moms group thinks that the majority of Americans agree with them – the fact that Ellen is a hugely successful entertainer with roles including children’s movies would seem to indicate that the vast majority of Americans think she’s just dandy. Also, I love how the lady who commented in a negative way on this article can not manage to spell a simple word correctly. I guess it is true that these people are not well-educated.

JC Penney jumping on the ‘hot-celebrity of the moment train’ instead of really taking stock of who their customer is. At least Rosie has a couple of kids! Many of you said you don’t even shop there but now you will just because some mom group doesn’t like Ellen??? You all just drank the marketing kool-aid. Congrats.
