16 High-end Designers Making Baby Clothing for the Spawn of the 1% (Photos)
Did you know that we are still in the midst of a recession? Well, don’t tell these 16 high-end design houses, they have a whole lot of super expensive baby, toddler and kids clothes to sell. But perhaps Gucci, Fendi and Dior are just marketing their clothing to a very select group of parents — the deep-pocketed one percent.
From paying $450 for a jacket for your little boy to $195 for the Gucci bib (at left), apparently someone is shelling out this kind of money for such temporary goods or else they wouldn’t be on the shelves. But a deeper question is, if a child is given a baby bib that costs nearly $200, what will the rest of their life be like? Are they being bred to only accept designer “label” items? Will the need to only buy the most expensive and most elite goods be hard wired? I think with the amount of premiere designers who are making children’s clothing line, they’re counting on it.
Would you purchase any of these designer duds? Check out these 16 high-end designers to find out who’s embracing the mini set and what kind of outrageous prices they’re charging.

Melissa commented on Jan 30 12 at 2:14 pmI’m guessing that you probably don’t want to see what my kids wear then because I don’t think that any of this is outrageous. But then again I paid $85+ each for my onsies! Love Kitson Kids by the way! Just because the other people in the world can’t afford it doesn’t mean relay those of us who can shouldn’t. I worked to be able to pay $400 for my kids shoes and why shouldn’t they have them just because others can’t? And I’m sure if you could you would too. And to answer your question it doesn’t mean that’s all they wear, we do on occasion go to Gymboree and Gap too. Why shouldn’t my children have everything they deserve because yours can’t? Ask yourself this, if money didnt matter what would you buy for your kids? Probably a lot of the same stuff I do. I have the house the car I donate why should I be slighted because I also spend what I have on spoiling my children. Hmmm guessing I’m a little offended.
Melissa commented on Jan 30 12 at 2:46 pmI tried to post before but it didn’t go through. I honestly am a little offended not only at the title but really people? As the mother of those children, not “spawn” but young innocent children I think that’s a little rude. Just because I can afford to buy my children these things doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t just because others can’t. Yep, I am that mom who paid $85.00 a piece for onsies at Kitson Kids and yep my toddler runs around in $198.00 jeans. Normally I don’t talk about what I spend because it’s…well tacky but this honestly annoys the crap out of me. If everyone could afford to spoil their children they would so don’t fault those of us who can for doing so because if you were in my position you would do the same thing. If money didn’t matter you would probably do things differently. I do the socially acceptable donations etc so why can’t I also be guilt free in spoiling my kids? I worked hard to be who I am and I should be able to spend what I want so why should I be judged because I chose to spend my money on my children. And there are a lot worse priced things $345 for a dress isn’t bad at all shopping in Beverly Hills is a whole new world.

Melissa commented on Mar 28 12 at 9:32 pmI have to respectfully disagree with you. I don’t care if I sh*t $100 bills I couldn’t bring myself to spend that on clothes for myself or my kids. Works for you and that’s great but not me.
Heather commented on Mar 28 12 at 9:43 pmI don’t think you need to be offended or that anyone is judging you or anyone who pays these prices for kid’s clothes. You just have to remember that the majority of the population have never seen prices like these in real life. It’s just a fun thing for us poor folk who shop at Target and Super 8 and even consignment shops to look at and say, “Wow, that’s crazy. If only…” I pay as little as possible for my girls’ clothes and get a lot of hand-me-downs from older cousins. I simple don’t have it to spend. It was my choice to stay home and not bring in extra money. If I had a ton of extra money, I can’t say that I wouldn’t pay what seems like outrageous prices for cute outfits.
Kristina commented on Mar 28 12 at 10:17 pmI am amazed at the prices considering I have bought similar outfits for a fraction of the price. My kids are considered well dressed and honestly if you blow your money on junk that took nothing to make that is your problem. There are better ways to throw away cash. There is no reason to buy this junk because you are just paying for the name. They have similar stuff for $10. Spawn is not really a offensive word if you know what it means. Lol.
