Can you imagine being struck by lighting — and while also pregnant?

Of all the things I worried about when I was pregnant — and there were a lot of them — being struck by lightning was not among them.

Despite the fact that I thankfully now have two healthy little girls, I am still freaked out and also thoroughly relieved for the woman who was struck by lightning when she was pregnant — as she just gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

Last summer Stephanie Alberti was 13-weeks pregnant when lightning struck and hit her through the ground, leaving her temporarily paralyzed, according to KKTV.com.

That left her with six months to be concerned about the fate of her unborn child.

She went to the doctor every single week for the remainder of her pregnancy, but there was more drama during the birth. As it turned out, the baby’s umbilical cord was wrapped around her body.

“I think that it was wrapped three times around her neck and then a couple times around her butt area and her leg and then they suctioned her out and basically her color came right back,” Stephanie’s husband said.

Baby Sophia Alberti was 6.5 lbs. and 19.5 inches at birth, and is said to be doing just fine. So are the four other people who were hit by lightning at the same time as Stephanie.

“We joked when I was pregnant [the baby] would have some sort of superhero personality or superhero abilities,” Stephanie said.
