Chuck E. Cheese = Satan’s Playground?

The Curse of Chuck E. Cheese

I am one of the lucky ones. I have never been inside a Chuck E. Cheese. This may just be due to the luck of locale, my town doesn’t have one.  But for many, Chuck E. Cheese is a mainstay in their kid friendly repertoire of destinations. There’s the games, the prizes, the junk food, and of course the over-sized rodent mascot. Now there is nothing wrong with a child centered Mecca of mini mayhem, but events at Chuck E. Cheese’s of late are far from mayhem in mini sized doses and very un-child friendly.  We’re talking drinking, swearing, assault and even murder.

This week a grandmother was beaten up at her grandson’s 7th birthday at a Chuck E. Cheese in Dearborn, Michigan. The physical abuse happened after she reportedly asked a table next to them to take it easy on the swearing. Heated words were exchanged, and next thing you know there was a full-blown fight. Chuck E. Cheese (or anywhere for that matter) is so not the place for that.

But this is not the only craziness that has went down in the land of rat…

The Worst Chuck E. Cheeses?
Fights have been - sadly - pretty common at Chuck E. Cheeses across the land. But at the Brookfield, Wis. location , fights are almost as frequent as a toddler's tantrum. Police have been called to this location over a dozen times to break up fights between patrons. "The biggest problem is you have a bunch of adults acting like juveniles," says Town of Brookfield Police Capt. Timothy Imler. "There's a biker bar down the street, and we rarely get calls there."

And in Susquehanna Township, Pennsylvania the police were called 12 times one year with 13 arrests. The year before that, the police had to rush there 18 times!

This has made me think twice about making C.E.C. a childhood staple for my children – I grew up around one off & on, & never heard of all this going on! It’s sad, too, because, for my kids’ safety, it’s best not to go to a *kid’s place* to have great, indoor fun – the adults can’t handle the stress of BEING adults! Entrance into Chucky’s is free, Yvette. The games, food, & drinks cost mucho dinero, but to just go hang out so the little ones can play is free. Anyway, thank you for posting this, Sunny, because I didn’t have a clue a child’s play place could be so dangerous that it would just be better to go elsewhere or stay home!

I never went to chuck e cheese, I think it’s boring and stupid, I did however enjoyed going to Naughty Nicks’ (my favorite place) no one acted stupid or anything because everyone just had fun.The only sucky part is that, they closed down naughty nicks and now there are only chuck e cheese ugh… I rather throw a party, or any party for that matter at either my home or a nice, clean, decent park.

We love taking our kids to Chuck E. Cheese. I remeber going to one back when it was Show Biz Pizza when I was a kid, and I loved it. The thing is crime can happen anywhere. I’m not going to live my life in fear, but I do watch my kids very closely at these places.

Being a “child based establishment” you’d think that they wouldn’t serve alcohol at all. I am a adult and yes I drink but I would want my child and other children to get home safely knowing that the parents are not intoxicated. As for the child molester (GROSS): Parents keep one eye on your kids and the other eye on surrounding adults! Pedophiles come in all looks and forms!

We just got back from there today we go all the time and never have any issues but that is also because i watch my child unlike other moms who assume the hand stamp is a babysitter and i agree they should not serve alcohol there
