School Employee Fakes Daughter’s Death to Take a Vacation
Did she not think people might start wondering why they didn’t hear of funeral plans? Did she not worry someone she works with might eventually run into her daughter and realize she’s still alive? Did she not think that maybe, just maybe, it’s a little sick to fake your daughter’s death just to go on vacation?
Those are among the questions I might pose to a New York City school employee who faked her daughter’s death just so she could spend a few weeks sunning herself in Costa Rica. Another question? Who does that?
So many questions, so little time. Sigh.
Joan Barnett pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in the case, according to Fox News. Not surprisingly, she also lost her job as a parent coordinator at the Manhattan High School of Hospitality Management. This all came after she faked a Costa Rican death certificate for her daughter.
Signs the certificate was bogus included misaligned and different fonts. Oh, and the year of death was listed as 2005, but the woman cried her daughter died in 2010. So, yeah, that was kind of a smoking gun.
What would you ask Joan Barnett if you could?

Sanriobaby =^.^= commented on Jan 12 12 at 6:21 pmWhat kind of person would lie about the death of thier CHILD just to get some extra time off for a vacation? Shame on this mother!!! Clearly she’s never lost a child and she better hope she never does b/c that’s not something anyone should EVER lie about. BTW, she also inlisted her other daughter and other family members to call the school and keep up the lie as well. Mother of the Year, I tell ya! I hope that vacay was worth it, not only did she lose her job over it and had to plead guilty to a crime, but now she’s lost the respect of everyone who knew her too! What a dumbazz!!!!
