Why the Kardashian Barbie Is Redundant

This already looks enough like a Kardashian, no?
The Internet has been buzzing since Christmas Day about whether or not Mattel is planning to release “Dash Dolls,” Barbie dolls made in the image of the KKK: Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian. I don’t keep up with the Kardashians, but from what little I know about them, I know they’re famous because of Kim’s butt.
The mom was married to one of OJ’s lawyers, now she’s married to Bruce Jenner (who should probably change his name to Kruce), the daughters go out and party, one of them is married to a basketball player, one of them has a baby (is that the same one?) and one of them is chubby. Right?
So why do we need Kardashian Barbies when there are already so many celebritized Barbies on the market?
We don’t, obviously.
I’m not trying to shit on the Kardashians. I’m sure they’re fine people who marry for publicity. But there’s no difference between a Kardashian Barbie and one of the many grotesque Barbies already on store shelves. Barbie Fashionistas, Barbie Stardoll, Barbie Video Girl Doll … the list goes on. Barbie’s already got every vapid career covered. Do we really need reality star Barbies, too? Dolls that a family of questionable role models will profit from? I don’t think so.
It doesn’t seem anyone writing about the proposed dolls does think they’re a good idea, but if they get the green light, one thing is for sure: they will sell. Especially at Kmart.
