My beautiful mom, who turns 57 this year, with my son, Henry.

At what age did you feel your best? Teens? Twenties? Thirties? Forties?

If you said your younger years, your pre-children, pre-stretch marks and pre-saggy boob years, you are in the minority.

Apparently, like a fine wine, women feel better with age. Notice I said feel better and not get better.  I think there is still a societal view that men get better with age and women, well, they just get old.

Screw that.

Jezebel.com says it best, I think. “The good news is that at some point in your life, you will feel awesome about yourself. The bad news is that the point at which you feel totally hot may be a few decades away.”

According to Jezebel, a new survey of UK women found that the age at which women feel the sexiest and most confident isn’t 25, or even 32.  It’s…

Half of the 3,000 respondents said that 52 is the age where they feel they’ve accomplished most of their goals, and that they felt sexiest and most confident about their bodies.

Go figure.

Jezebel notes that the average age an American woman stops menstruating is around 51 which possibly means the relief of not bleeding anymore and stocking up on tampons and pads could cause all the feeling good that women over 52 are reporting.

All joking aside, I love this study. Mostly because it’s what I’ve suspected all along: when you stop giving a crap what everyone else thinks and just rock on with yo bad ass self, life gets better. Even if you do have to grab your crotch when you sneeze.
